"The record shows simply that the amendment "was agreed to." Id. at H1752. Those watching the debates could note that the chair-Charles Rangel-, upon making this proclamation on the voice vote, refused to hear the Members calling for a recorded vote"

This is in relation to the Machinegun Ban (Hughes Amendment)

All I'm pointing out is that when the Hughes Amendment was passed Charles Rangel D-NY controlled the floor. He allowed a questionable voice vote and IGNORED calls for a recorded vote.

So is this a loophole to get the Machine gun ban repealed??

If a recorded vote is asked for, can the chair refuse?

Anybody know?

It might be if we can convince our legislators.

If what Rangel did was against House rules, I'm sure something would have been done about it.

See if the machinegun ban is widely supported, then what can Brady et al fear from a vote on a repeal?
