Cascade Mall shooter dies in jail

The Cascade Mall shooter who killed five people in Burlington last year has died while in the Snohomish County Jail.

Arcan Cetin, 20, died while in custody on Sunday night, according to The Skagit County prosecuting attorney.

Yes and no.

In the short term, his family will sue and claim the system did him wrong, and he was never convicted of anything. He had just turned his life around and was an aspiring brain surgeon and theoretical physicist.

But the long term cost saving of warehousing a 20-year-old lifer is bigly.

They can sue if they want. Doesn't mean they'll win or it will even go anywhere. The state still had more spending to do on the prosecution, now they spend dealing with the lawsuit defense.

Dude likely offed himself. Even if an inmate took him out I don't see huge payouts unless they can show the COs played some part.

I keep hearing these rumors about Snohomish County jails and law enforcement in general, and I don't know how to evaluate them. I really hope this is a legit suicide, and not something that turns out to be the tip of an iceberg of scandal.

Remember the Robin Pratt shooting? Snohomish County. Also, one of the victims of this dipshit was a former Snohomish County probation officer, Belinda Galde.

People I know keep talking shit about Snohomish County's law enforcement, and I don't know whether to take them seriously, or not. Couple of 'em I'd write off to being complete dipshits, but a couple of them are anything but--One of them is a retired Ranger, who moved out of the county rather than deal with some of the people he'd developed "issues" with on the Sheriff's Department over there. He's not someone I would automatically put on "ignore", when they start talking trash about professionalism and other issues.

Really, really hope we're not going to see another one of those cases where some bullshit comes flooding out from behind the walls. Especially with this guy being the proximate cause...

Not to take away from how shitty this guy and his actions were, but why is it the only shooter not captured on video before/during/after was Adam Lanza? There are all kinds of pics of this shit bag, with a weapon. The only picture of Lanza was some mugshot looking photo.
