Iv been a BAD boy.
Over on Amback forums, there was a discussion about Glock KaBooms. I jokingly posted a few images of a blown up S&W Revolver, and an M-14 that turned up in a routiene Google search. Lo and behold, one of the Forum Admins supposedly "owns" one of the un-protected and publicly posted images, and uses his "power" to have me banned...after bad-mouthing me, and calling me names in a public forum. Here is the link for anyone who cares: www.ambackforum.com/viewtopic.php?p=254221#254221 Id let him know what an idiot he is, but i can no longer view the forums, so i cant see his E-mail address. What makes it even more helarious is that another Admin sent the bann notification (the guy didnt have the nerve to do it himself aparently), and told me to "square things away" with him. How do i do that when i cant access the private message, or E-mail feature i wonder? |

That's why I don't go there anymore. It's a third rate forum not worthy of the bother...

Recently I posted 2 pictures from a stupid moronic liberal hippy’s picture library that was in an open directory on his webspace with many other funny pictures. One was an animated gif and the other was a funny picture of a round guy with a ski mask and an MP5K and a few cases of beer with the caption (Don’t fuck with the admins!). When I posted the animated gif, I stated above the pic “I found this in some liberal hippy’s picture library.” This super duper sleuth of a webmaster (note the sarcasm) noticed traffic/views coming from AR15.com and came here and viewed the posts. He then changed the animated gif to a rainbow circle saying “Hi I’m Alien and I’m gay!” and changed the admin picture to the Goatsex asshole ripping guy with my name on it. The goatsex guy pic got my account locked after a mod saw it. Yeah, real funny.
I can understand when people get pissed off when people steal other people’s sales information and pictures and use them for their own auctions/websites while having the pics hosted by the original owner, and won’t comply with requests to remove them. This was just stupid and proved that he was a homophobic liberal hippy that thinks he’s somehow the internet god by changing some pics on me. Lesson learned, if you’re gonna post pictures, post them from a reliable host or host them yourself. And if you're going to fuck somebody over with the pictures your hosting, I hope you don't have them hosted on a domain name that is registered to you... seeing as though you can easily get a physical address and phone number and name and all sorts of other information on the host of the said pics. Not that I would do anything with said information. Seriously, I haven't, but the thought of having some comical stuff sent to said address was tempting. |
His explanation indicates it's a TOS violation:
I'm no internet lawyer, but the problem doesn't seem to be "stealing" the image, but rather posting it on his forum. I THINK site owners can make whatever rules they wish*. <shrug> *Not saying I agree with his action, only seeking to understand it, for obvious reason. |
Um, you were wrong. I don't blame him for doing what he did. When you hotlink to his site from this one, you obviously have no concept of the HUGE bandwidth draw, due to our numbers here. If you want to snag a pic, no problem--just host it elsewhere rather than hotlinking to his site. He is then powerless to make the switcheroo. |
LOL I did that but with scat pics.. |
Actually TBK1, I realize that and I'm not wrong in what you quoted. I may have been technically wrong in hotlinking the pics I did, since it used his bandwidth however. What I was saying is that if you wanna hotlink a pic from CCN.com or Foxnews.com (reliable sites that see insane amounts of bandwidth usage), then you're in the clear. They're not going to change pics into gay porn or something similar on you. Otherwise, host it yourself. I was already agreeing with what you said. |

Actually, you were stealing his bandwidth, and despite what I think of the guy's politics, I support his right and decision to change the images |
I know--the "you were wrong" comment actually related to this:
. . . I just didn't want to quote any more than I did. Your conclusion is absolutely correct, especially given the outcome that lead to it, but complaining about his action is unjustified, IMO. Trust me, I'm on your side--I loathe hippies. Edit: jblachly, you weren't supposed to jump in between. j/k, Bro. |

DeanSpeir is kind of a dick.
Right or wrong - he is not really a "people person" Guy jumped all over my ass once for posting a topic in the wrong(but not completly inappropraite) forum. |
Thats for the support guys.
I had NO IDEA that you guys drew so much bandwidth... i only posted it on 5 other active gun boards. he O, and i called myself Wesel unit because i couldnt use my usualy handle (no punctuation ont his forum) |
A few moments ago this site had 3,534 people logged on. Most gun boards have a dozen or a few dozen. This is a LARGE site. Most sites show how many are logged in at any given time--pay attention and it will give you perspective. |
That website is a mixture of gun facts you won’t find anywhere else and typical fantasy BS some gunwriters can’t help themselves from making up and spreading. As far as personal attacks, he has done it before and will most likely do it again. The one that irks me most is his slanderous lies designed to malign Chuck Taylor, so you are in good company with an Army Ranger and Vietnam vet. |
Dean Speir is a joke and an asshole, I think I still have account over there
"publicly posted" does not mean free to copy and distribute....if you did not take the picture, or draw it, or buy the rigths, then you have no business distributing it
Dean Speir is a know-it-all douchbag with an "I'm better then you and know more than you attitude". Fuck him and the horse he rode in on.
guess i will have to disagree. i have talked to him several times on the phone when i had my glock issue. VERY knowledgeable guy and very helpful with my issue. He like most of us is hardheaded and seems to be set in his opinions. that said, his forum, his rules. |
The only thing I know about Dean Speir, I just learned from reading his post.
Right or wrong in this point, he comes off as a complete asshat and an arrogant prick. Otherwise, I'm sure he's a nice guy. ETA: Welcome to the site. Good people here. |
I did that once and was banned. though it wasnt ghey pron, just pron |
So aren't you suppose to be on I got banned from The Gun Zone.com?
We have a similar site here for those banned from AR15.com |
Are we going to ask this guy to post a pic of him under a bridge with his weapons, flipping us the bird?
Nevermind... Welcome to ARFCOM!, where even I had a thread locked... |
+1 on both. I haven't been there in a long while. Pretty mindless crap anyway. |
Arfcom kicks butt over most boards. It's like being in a pick-up game and slinging BS back and forth, and you get a lot of good information too!
