Let me start by saying I know close to nothing about body armor. In fact, close to nothing implies there is some difference between my level of knowledge and nothing, and that would be stretching it.

I just saw this product for sale and was thinking about some threads in the past about folks using AR500 plates as armor and the potential for spalling (sp?), which if I understand correctly is the spread of shrapnel from the point of impact to the sides and the potential for serious injury to the face, neck, arms, or legs of the wearer.

Would this, put in front of an AR500 plate, mitigate that issue?

You only need armor if you plan in getting shot. Just practice your draw technique and split times

IIRC, current pricing for carbon nanotube fiber is about $10K per lb which means it usually used as only an additive  in synthetic fiber mixes for additional strength, usually in percentages well under 10%.

Yes, for the most part, with only the most rare exception, it's gimmicky to claim "nano-something" or "carbon nanotube" as part of an armor product.

It will, without question, change the world when the technology is perfected but we're not there yet. Not at all.

CN fiber is useful as a resin blend for reinforcing hard armor but the truth is, that's too expensive to use in a meaningful way. So... call me skeptical that this has much of anything to do with carbon nanotube tech. I happily invite someone to prove me wrong, because I would love to be shown otherwise.

Just get these and don't worry about it.

Arfcommers helped with the R&D.

I need something that can withstand 338 LM to the back.
Will this work?
