I called a local fun store to see if they had any 19's in stock. He said he had the newer carbon fiber Glock 19. The guy said it makes the gun lighter and stronger and it even looks kinda neat. I went to Glocks site and I cannot find this gun anywhere on  the web. Anyone hear of this new Glock?

Funny, I was just today contemplating the possibilites of a carbon nanotube Glock (not the same I know).

But it's news to me. Haven't heard a thing about it...maybe, somehow, he has an inside scoop with Glock about something new to be released at the coming SHOT show. After all, Glock (IIRC) has told people be ready for a new, exciting product.

.Actually I just picked up a G22 finished in carbon fiber finish today, it's actually a real tree-type dipped finish that's put on, it looks like it might be a tough finish.

I'm no expert, but my understanding was that these were just finished with a Carbon Fiber appearance (after market, not factory), but were the same material as all other Glocks.

It's just a finish that is applied to a standard Glock.

My advice is to never deal with that clown again. He's either really stupid or a bullshitter.

Probably popular with the ricer-crowd, though.

Wow I feel stooooooooopid. Everybody laugh at me

If it's really carbon fiber I think it would be kinda cool. If it's just normal Glock plast....I mean, paaahhhlymer, finished to look like carbon fiber, then it's just dumb.

Though I wouldn't call your friend dumb. I wouldn't blame him for honsestly not knowing that it isn't true carbon fiber.

Actually, carbon fiber would probably be a pretty poor substance to make a gun frame out of.  It takes polymer's greatest strenghts and tosses them down the tube.  Carbon fiber has no flex to it.  If you cause it to flex, it will crack.  Polymer will flex, therefore letting the gun be more foregiving and also not crack if the frame has to flex.  You can see the results of a frame that has no flex on the S&W aluminum frames where they crack by the take down pin.  If it had more flex, like polymer or steel, it wouldn't crack.
