What motor does it have now? A 289?

I'd think you'd be just fine dropping a 351 into it with or without any smog control devices on it, the smog laws didn't start to get bad until around 1973-74 if I'm remembering correct.
Ca. doesn't even require cars made before 1974 to be smogged any longer, you could slap any old polluting gas burner you wanted into a 68 stang here in Ca. I'd imagine Nevada would be even more open minded especially with a car that old. |

Quoted: emission control devices were not required by law until 1973. the only emission style items I recall on a motor that old would be a pcv value & a carbon canister the extra fuel(overflow) would flow threw on it way back to the tank come on Muscle Car / Gear Heads anything else we're missing? I don't know much about Fords, but my 1967 GTO had a smog pump as factory original equipment. Maybe it was just a CA requirement, but if original smog gear is required in your state, it could run into some big bucks. |

Just read over my old service manuals and all california cars & manual transmission cars were equipped with a smog-pump. |

heres a list of the 4 major emissions sections for cars up tp 1972
positive crankcase ventilation system (pcv) transmission controlled vacuum spark advance(tcs) controlled combustion system(ccs) air injection reactor(air) |
