So anyone getting it?

I can't justify it.  Nice jump in technology over the Mark III which was a great camera.  Perhaps when they drop in price, but until then, I'll be happy with my 5D Mark II.

It seems like it'll be a good camera but the 7D has what I need.

If it was full frame, I'd find a way to justify it for myself

I'm just not sure about the 1.3 crop for my needs of the camera.  I've gotten so used to full frame wide angle.  I'll probably rent one for the weekend when it's available and judge from there.  The specs are a dream for me, have my 5Dii on one shoulder and the 1dIV on the other for events would be incredible

If you think of it as a "wideangle 7D" (it's all relative!), that might help justify it for you.

Should have bought my Mark III from me.  Sad I had to sell it, but for me the 10mp was a limiting factor.

It looks damned nice, but I won't be getting a new camera any time soon.  My MKIII does everything I need it to.

You'd buy a dead hooker if Canon was selling one.

I'm in more of a production mode with the dead hooker bidness.

Supplying the finest dead hookers since 1970.

but you're right...

Hmmm....Still crops, as in my 70-200 f2.8L would be a 91-260mm, but my nice EF-S 10-22 would be unusable?  Hmmm I'd rather stick to the 7D. I have to wonder why Canon would make an in-between size sensor? I guess DOF would be better on this than the 7D, but why?

The mk IV is a 1.3 crop because that's what all of the 1D series has been.  The only full frame cameras are the 1Ds series and the 5D series.  They originally went with 1.3x because it was the largest size sensor that could reliably be produced with the tech available at the time.  Since then they have stuck with it because it provides most of the IQ, noise and DOF advantages of the full frame sensor while giving a little more reach and a high firing rate.

Just look at how quickly the D3 has made a real name for itself in both sports and PJ.  I'm missing something, but then I'm not the intended market in reality.

That is largely because the mk III had AF issues at a time when Nikon released the excellent D3.

Thanks!  Often wondered about the Canon line up and the hows and whys of what they do.
