My daughter needs a film camera for her high school class.  Will one of these be ok if the price is good?  I have not done film in a very long time.

Dated, but if it works why not?

Check your local craigslist for used SLR bodies, you can often find recent (<10 y.o) nikon/canon stuff for reasonable prices.

I'd see if you could find out the exact requirements for a camera for that particular class.  I know a lot of photography classes required a camera that could be used in manual mode, and the T50 lacks that feature.  It's certainly adequate for getting correct exposures, but artsy stuff like varying the depth of field or motion effects are all but impossible.

If all she needs is a camera that uses 35mm film, she's good to go.
