Sootch just posted a review on the new Canik TP9SA. It is an update over the original TP9 that received excellent reviews from a lot of people. The new version has a slightly longer barrel along with ergonomic and trigger upgrades. Sootch claims the trigger is easily in the top 3 best striker fired pistols. His direct side by side comparison shows a similar break to the PPQ with a smoother take up.
The Canik is basically a Walther P99 clone made by an arms manufacturer in Turkey. It's imported by Century and should retail for around $300. Apparently mags are manufactured by MecGar and run for around 25$. The old TP9 mags are compatible with a baseplate swap. 18+1 capacity. Full review by Sootch Edited to add mag price/info |

Yep, there's a 4 page thread on it somewhere around here... and the video was posted.
Looks like it might be some good bang for the buck. |

Canik is putting out some good product inexpensively. Word is they are a ISO 9000 military arms producer so quality should good.

If they add a 10mm option for the same or similar price, I'll be all over that.

I was hoping it was going to be $300 +/- like before. If it was, I'd buy 1.

I don't get the decocker. What's the point? Why would I ever want to decock the gun with a round in the chamber?

If I didn't already have a G19 I would pick up one of those today

I agree, and the method for re-cocking the striker allows for the possibility of the slide not going fully forward into battery. It's dumb and unnecessary. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I would bet that a lawyer came up with the idea. It seems like its worth a try for that price. Used 17/19s go for more than that. |

Tell that to the legion of people that have blown out their femurs while "cleaning." I may be sold on this gun as a beater.

I like it. I'll be getting one to add to my stack of hi cap 9's. Not even sure what I need it for.

I'll give one a whirl at that price point. I'm pleased with my Canik 55 CZ-75 clone.

In addition to Sootch, Mrgunsngear's review is up too.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wue40MlRgV8 Mrgunsngear shows more shooting. Shoots pretty flat (although the shooter had a hand in that). He does some accuracy testing at 15m vs Sootch's 7 yards. He compares it to a G17 vs Sootch using the first TP9 for comps. Sootch covers the holster more extensively. Similar opinion by both (very good striker fired trigger, lot of pistol for the price). |
