I stumbled across this today, apparently this is going on right now in Canada?

Ontario Police Abandon 12-Year-Old Child As Father Is Arrested

Is this for real? It seems so out of this world (or maybe just this country), and I didn't know there was a Canadian Unregistered Firearms Owners Association.

I lived there from 1974-1980. I'm glad that was a period of my life when I was more into football, and not shooting. It's a socialist country, and too many of it's citizens are willing "boiling frogs."

Not these guys: CUFOA

I sent them a check a few months ago, after I first heard about them and what they were doing. They have the hearts of patriots, the kind our country had in it's infancy. Help support them!

This story shows why we need to remain vigilant here in America.  What an absolute injustice this poor man is experiencing.  I know he "broke' the law but he shouldn't be treated like a true criminal.  You know, the type of person who uses a weapon TO ROB YOU!!

Hi all,
Yes, that does happen.  For the most part the provincial police have not been enforcing the Federal registry laws.

When the law was coming into effect, there was a protest on Parliment hill, they arrested a Veteren for carrying a lower reciever, because Canadian law says a reciever is a firearm.  There was no barrel or magazine, but they still arrested him.

I'm still fuming over that one.

But if this happened in the US: 1) child taken to county services and niether parent would be able to see them without going to court.  2) Wife arrested and jailed so she would not go back home, 3) house trashed by search.

Bruce and the CUFOA guys have been travelling around the country for some time, trying to get arrested.

Met with various politicians, burned licenses and such in Ottawa and the provincial capitols, held unlicensed, unregistered skeet shoots (these guys are more about duck guns than AW's). Not much happened.

Ontario, where Bruce got busted, just recently got a new LIBERAL government, Previous Conservative government did not support the Firearms Act so fewer hassles. Now they'll probably get full on enforcement of gun laws there.

There are only like three or four provinces in Canada enforcing the Firearms Act right now, Ontario, Quebec, and a couple of the Maritime provinces that depend on the Fed's for their economies. Western Canada has blown it off as the 2 billion dollar embarrasment it is. The Fed's don't get any co operation there.

The CUFOA guys might get a shot at the constitutionality of the law if they've done their homework, but in most cases like this the Fed's just lay charges under the Criminal Code rather than the Firearms Act, that's how vulnerable this law is. That's how much faith the Ottawa Liberals have in it.

Still, takes a lot of balls to say "come and arrest me". Hope it works out for Bruce.

We're slowly getting rid of this pathetic legislation, like you all got rid of the AW Ban. It takes time. If only we could get Ontario to stop voting in the Liberals.

Yeah.

Buddy of mine up there with an AR-180B and some other stuff (and the real mags) and his buddies didn't register. They barged into the police station, half drunk or worse, when the law went into effect and demanded to be arrested for owning unregistered guns.

The cops told them
1)They didn't register their's either.
2)"Fuck off."

Pretty much most of Western Canada resisted, and that is why nothing is happening there.  The Ottawa Eastern Government decided to make a law to outlaw guns, and Western Canadians, including most LEOs, simply said no.  Most of the arrests are happening in Eastern Canada - Since they elected the government they get what they paid for.

One of the many reasons I am in voluntary exile as a Western nationalist.

As said by 87gn "Yeah, canada pretty much sucks."

That is the farthest from the truth!

I have friends in New Brunswick and its an open denial of the laws.  EVERYBODY is ignoring the stupid laws.  Classification laws are generaly followed but magazine and machinegun laws are basicaly ignored.
Some are even creating their own look alike receivers iwith the sporter designation so they can create assault rifles that are banned but the sporter or hunter models are legal.

The Canadians makes us look like a bunch of paranoids when it comes to the basic ignoring of the laws.  IE Who here had a falash hider on their AR during the ban?  In Canada everybody would have had one.  It just would have been easily removable.

The way I hear it, most agree that the laws wouldn't survive a court challenge, so illegal weapons are confiscated, but the owner is not arrested, so he can't challenge the law in court.

What pisses most people off out here is one day they are law abidding citezens, and the next day by an act of OMMISSION, they suddenly have become criminals.
The Alberta Gov't. refuses to enforce the Act.
The East calls us Rednecks out here, and we're damn proud of it!
It wasn't too long ago everyone drove around downtown with a 30-30 in the back window of their pickups, and no-one even took notice. No drive-bys or gang feuds. Now that we have Gun Control, you read about that shit happening all the time in places.
Time for a wee bit of Civil Disobedience!
