Canada to legalize pot.
Last Thursday, the government of Canada introduced legislation in the country's parliament that would permit adult use of marijuana. The bill's introduction fulfills a campaign promise by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to legalize recreational pot use in the country. If the law is approved (as expected), Canada becomes only the second country to legalize cannabis. Uruguay fully legalized pot in 2013, but implementation has been slow, largely because the government is maintaining tight control over how marijuana can be marketed and sold. View Quote |

In before thousands of bodies are lying dead in the streets with pot needles sticking out of their arm
|
|
hopefully the Canucks get it
my wife joked around about this and said she's going to partake next time we go to Winnipeg and make me watch since due to being .mil I can't partake |

That bill still has a long way to go before it's law.
My biggest concern is how people who think it's ok to get high on the job or drive while high will be handled. Plus the health risks of smoking are no different than tobacco. Meanwhile, menthol flavoured tobacco has been banned 'for the children'. |
|
Hopefully it passes, and causes a bunch of Bernie supporters to move north.

Millions will be dead within months from pot needle overdoses and pot needle users going on killing rampages. Never mind the crooners like Michael Buble raping all the white women.

Job performance will be handled by the manager or HR. Driving while high will go under DUI laws. Plus the health risks of smoking are no different than tobacco. People who smoke accept those risks. They have been smoking weed in cottage country up in the Muskoka area
every weekend for the last 30 to 40 years. The one thing I learned about visiting friends who live up there is that spending time on the weekend just relaxing with friends and family is a major priority. Some beautiful lake country up in Ontario and some very laid back people. They have to buy their beer in bulk from the official beer store but they stock up plenty for the weekends. The weed goes right up the main highway from Toronto and follows the traffic North. |

I am so fucking sick and tired of hearing about pot and LGBTQ 'issues.'

The gov't has no choice.
Weed is looked upon by most people as no more/less evil than booze and smokes... Gov't is just catching up to society and taking credit. In practical terms... No one gets in trouble for simple possession anyway. It's a waste of time for the police and courts. |

the world's largest gro op is in Alberta, right near the Edmonton International Airport. something like 16 football fields worth of mind altering green. on a more depressing note, the same federal government is just about ready to drop more oppressive gun laws on us. freedom is a question of perspective, depending on your political leanings i guess.

I have friends who are cops and they never bother people for small quantities for personal use.
If they catch them smoking while driving on the other hand it is a DUI. I don't know if it socioeconomical or what but we have far less violent crime up here even though our laws are more lax. |

Some of the 30,000 marijuana plants were found growing inside vats that once housed Molson beer. |

I wonder how their universal healthcare will be able to deal with all the overdoses...

Why is this a concern? I assume it will be handled the exact same way somebody who thinks it's okay to do those things drunk will be handled. Say you pulled up to your favourite range and noticed a couple of guys getting high in their vehicle and then follow you in and set up next to you, would it bother you or would you report it to the RO ? Or would you be a pothead hipster and join them and say it's fine to go shooting high ? Fascist authoritarian my ass ! |
