I found both in my attic. The darker one, my grandfather brought back from WWII. It has the following markings, KR 1889 on barrel and stock. The lighter one my Dad bought in a pawn shop when he was 12 to put on a gun rack he made. No readable markings other than 1892 on buttplate. Let me know what you think they are. The first one (funkie mag) is a M1870/87 Vetterli-Vitali rifle. Should be 10.47x35r mm. The other one is a M1870/87/16 conversion of the Vetterli-Vitali rifle. Should be 6.5x52mm... (Mfg in Italy)

The upper rifle appears to be a Danish Beaumont-Vitali rifle in 11mm caliber and the lower rifle looks to be a an Italian Vetterli Model 1870/87/15 probably originally chambered for a 10.35mm cartridge but possibly converted to 6.5mm Carcano via a barrel liner.

On second thought make that "might be" on the first rifle (funkie mag) need to do some checking...

Thanks for the info guys. I cleaned them up a bit and found some asian-like markings and TARINI on the M1871 (darker one). The other is definately not chambered for anything close to 10mm. Let me know if the new markings change anyone's minds.

Terni refers to the arsenal that did the cartridge/mag conversion in 1916. This is the M1870/87/15 (also seen as M1870/87/16)This is the dark rifle. Should be 6.5x52mm. The other is the M1871/88 and should be 11.3x50r mm. Does this seem right? (also note the references I'm using gives different spelling for arsenal)
