So it's making a come back. This is the most retarded challenge in the world. The people make it about them and not the disease. Oh look at my video of me throwing water over my head. It's about raising money for ALS not about people watching other people dumping a bucket of ice over their head. Let's take one of the worlds most precious resources and dump it over our heads The disease is playing second fiddle to the reactions. I really want a tally of how many people just dump the ice over their head and its a "me" moment and don't even give any money.

Ok.

Go ahead and look up how much money ALSA made from the ice bucket challenge, then be quiet.

Do it.

Link Posted: 8/10/2015 10:40:43 AM EDT
All I can say about it is that the ALS charity got more money last year than probably all other years combined.

I think the idea has run its course though.  I expect it to fizzle out this year.

ALS: Sign your DNR/DNI and go to palliative care after you lose your motor function. I really wish we told new-diagnosis' that your going to lose control of your body, be trapped in a bed, and ohh by the way everything else is going to start failing after that.

While I applaud the research, I find a lot of places that say "we're close to a cure" puts people through a lot of unnecessary suffering.

Sorry to hurt your feelings. My problem is not with how much money it made. Obviously its a horrific disease. My problem is with how many assholes just dump water over their heads, post their video to youtube or wherever else for a "me" moment. Why even have any sort of challenge. Why can't people just simply mail a check in?

The whole point was to take advantage of social media networking and get everyone's friends & family in on it too. Silently mailing in a check doesn't motivate others to follow suit when they don't know about it.
Pretty fucking simple actually..

I don't get all the butt hurt over it. Don't want to help, don't.   But don't bitch because other people are.

Asking me to do the same retarded shit y'all do during the summer, when it's fucking winter here is fucking stupid.

Donate cause you feel for the cause, or don't.

Emotional blackmail/bullying is bullshit.

I had people challenge me when it was 92 degrees there and it was 38 here.  Fuck off, I'll give money, but i'm not getting sick and missing out on work cause of a fuckin fad.

All from people dumping ice on their heads.

Even if your feelings were hurt because your friends nominated you (or didn't), you can't deny that the campaign worked.

In what way does the ice bucket challenge hurt you?  You realize the goal for it was for just one person, who didn't know what als was to google search it. It was about awareness, not even money. You can see the spike in searches last year on the disease. Hard to deny the campaign worked.

Wasn't the premise that if you didn't "accept" the challenge that you were supposed to donate $100, and if you did "accept" then donate $10?

If that is true, as I understand it, then people are showing that they would rather dump a bucket of ice over their head than to make a large donation to the cause.

They tied that, it didn't work as well. If people having fun and making things a little about them is what it takes, then so be it. Why people don't just quietly send a check in is irrelevant.

As the other guy said. Loom up how much money they got then be quiet.
