.....that the ARFCOMM community can't pick from the list?
Ever seen a thread where the poster spends about 200 words describing EXACTLY what they want, price considerations, quality considerations, make, model, etc only to see the responses start to diverge? Now, I try not to do this -- sometimes it happens -- but I try not to.....I can't honestly explain why I do it though when I do slip. I see it ALL the time.
We all know the most common ones, and it happens each time the threads come up. Why? |

I really like Nathans hotdogs, they taste better cooked than any other brand, except of course Hebrew National, but I'm already circumcised so I'm jewish enough without all that kosher shit.
Even tho they're made in Taiwan - them CRKT's are really a good deal for the money IMHO.
Yeah, yeah.......
I mean the guys who SINCERELY offer divergent lists. Knuckleheads. |
Well, since it's just the internet, it doesn't surprise me .. but in general, the INABILITY of many people to follow simple instructions often amazes me!
I think it has to do with people wanting to enforce their "self" on others. We can't impregnate other men with our man juice so we use our own ideas to make them more like ourselves. For example:
Subject A asks: What is better Gun A or Gun B. Subject B has no experience with either firearms but that doesn't stop them from chiming in. After All, subject B is smart and his opinion is the law, and if you think otherwise you're just as much as a fool as anyone else. So, in wanting to make sure you think just like subject B AKA "God" he offers something that he does know about: IBTL PIE +1 They're all just motherfuckers. I hate that shit too. |
Because often people's criteria doesn't match their selections. Example:
"I have a wife and two kids, who I often have to drive around with. I also tote plenty of guns back and forth to the range, and my car is used for the grocery shopping. Should I buy a Corvette or a Boxster?" Generally in that situation I'd recommend something that isn't on their list. The problem, when I diverge from a list, is that people aren't generally honest with themselves as to why they want something, and generally pick the item first, and then backwards rationalize it. For example I am trying hard not to give in to buying a new 350Z right now. I know that for my purposes a Lightning or a Typhoon, or even a Grand National, would be a better buy. I could backwards rationalize it and say that I'm interested in the Z because it's new and comes with a warranty, or I could tell the truth and say that I like the Z 'cause it's flashy and I've never owned a flashy car before. Most people would lie, because the "I want a flashy car" honesty isn't considered cool. Hell, look at all the internet comandos that argue about whether they should have a 16" or 14.5" barrel for CQB. Give me a break, they want the rifle 'cause it looks cool. If someone was in their house they'd shit their pants first and dial 911 second. In that case I'd likely say "buy a 12 gauge" since that's more practical to someone that's going to sit in their bedroom and hide. |
However, the selections are rarely like that.....it's usually: "I am going to buy a new sporty car. I've narrowed it down to the Corvette or a Porsche 911. Which do you think??" To which the reply comes -- get a Ford Truck! Or something along those lines..... |
I think its because when someone asks for help in making a decision like "should I buy gun A or gun B?" we generally want to help them make the best decision. If they've narrowed it down to a choice between gun A and gun B, its quite possible they've thought of and already dismissed gun C as an option. OTOH, they may not have included gun C in the choice because they don't know gun C existed or never considered it as a possibility to begin with because they simply don't know enough about the features and qualities of gun C. If they already have considered it and dismissed it as a possibility so be it, but it might just provide them with some food for thought or a new option to consider.

Interesting......helpfulness. |

Get a semi-auto shotgun for home defense. Make sure it's loaded with #4 shot to prevent over-penetration problems.

I usually listen to subject C or subject D. You should give examples of them - forget A & B; they don't know what the hell they're talking about. |
So far from the posts Ive seen - everyone on this forum is a fuckin Moron. That probably answeres your question.
PS - get a 1911. |
The problem with that theory is instead of being helpful and saying "get gun C because it (list reasons C should be considered)", they say something more like "get gun C because I said it's sweet and the others are all pieces of crap". At least in most cases, I have seen the occasional helpfully worded post. |
Because a person who does not know what he wants and has to ask gun forum goobers what he should get is not smart enough to realise there might be a better choice than the list that was posted on the window of the short buss.
It's just guys with more experience trying to help a guy out to realize there might be better choices than what is on his list. |

BECAUSE HUMAN BEINGS ARE MORONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I LIKE PIE! +1 But, seriously, to answer your question, IDPA is better than IPSC. |

To answer your question.... ...I think that Thuman's is actually BETTER than Best's, though sometimes a Sabrett hits the spot. I like Chocolate Egg Creams. |

My advice would be to get rid of the wifey and kiddies, get a hot new GF and go for a 2005 911 Turbo S. ETA: Oh yeah, and follow KA3B's excellent advice! |

I think he would have to buy the car first to get the hot new GF. |

Regular tactical folders are cool, but karambits are way more tactical.

Whatever. Just make up your damn mind already.
Edit: If I were you, I'd get the Glock 19. |
I think you have asked this question on here previously. I doubt you will get an answer this time either. IMO, there are probably a variety of reasons:
1. Questions aren't taken seriously 2. Failure to read and comprehend 3. Failure to follow simple directions 4. Some people insist on pushing their opinions on others 5. Some posters insist on being smart asses Take your pick! |
I'll pick #5 for $1000. |

People also like blood sausage. People are idiots!
