So I have been looking all over for ways to cook what I am calling a pork ham, the ass, back legs ect, not pork butt which from what I gather is the upper part of the front shoulder, and cannot find anything.

So my question is, can I take this (in pic below) and slow cook in a crock pot for 8-10 hours and make pulled pork?

I also started a thread Here but am thinking I may get a response faster in GD. I am wanting to start marinating it soon to let sit over night in the frig.

Ok so I am going to try and do the crock pot slow cooked pulled pork.

This is the lil guy in the field, sorry don't have the kill/cleaning pic, its just one of thousands of hogs at my place anyways. But I thought this one would make a good meal

Had to trim to fit in the pot

That's a good fit

A moist rub with a little bit of everything in the picture, even injected it in a few places

now its going to sit in the frig overnight, and ill put it on low in am and let it simmer for about 12 hours

I don't see why you couldn't.

Sure you can. Just let it cook and don't get in a hurry

Oh yea

Because it is already going in a crock pot, I don't see how the choice of meat could screw it up worse.

Yes.

Slice up a big vidalia onion, put the pork on top, smother it with barbecue sauce and let the slow cooker work.

Hell yes.....although I am going to offer a suggestion that will improve your plan....

Using either a proper smoker, or a charcoal grill....smolder some hickory chips and smoke the meat for an hour or more before putting it into the slow cooker. If you dont have the stuff to do this, the slow cooker by itself will work, but for me, the best pulled pork is smoked....with carmelized BBQ sauce mixed into the final product.

Throw one of them in a crock pot with a half gallon or so of apple juice, cook slow (put mine on high heat) for about eight hours, pure win.

Now i just need to figure out how to make it fit into a crock pot

I tend to cook mine at least halfway through and drain off most of the juice then add the bbq sauce . I tend to save the juice and re add to the pot as necessary .

A good dry rub will help out ALOT before you start your cooking process . Makes the juice taste awsome as well .

I, for one, demand pics of the event - to include an AAR.

If not smoking it for a while, I'd at least brown it in a cast iron skillet or pot before putting it in the slow cooker.
