I have a former student (now in grad school) who has been traveling to Fergidishu to protest regularly. I mainly keep her around as a FB friend to drink her liberal tears.
Anyway, from her posts I have learned that they travel en masse and flop on living room floors for a weekend of protesting, and then go back to class M-Th. |

Yes. But you starts small, at local protests... You know, "Protect the Blue-Bellied Yellow-Livered Blunt-Beaked Eastern Western Southern Gimp Fly in Johnson Park" type stuff, then if you're good you end up doing semi-pro stuff, making the circuits around for different causes here and there, until you are noticed by some big league scout for one of the majors, like Greenpeace, OWS, DNC, etc... and then you have the opportunity to make the big money...

A guy we were talking to at the office on Wednesday said the NAACP was offering to pay protesters. I'm not sure for what event but he said they don't give much and usually end up getting a bunch of crack heads.
