Alrighty, so I'm taking the wife unit and kids up to the Uintas this weekend to get the hell out of the heat here in the SLC Valley. This particular mountain range is home to Moose, Elk, Mountain Lion and Black Bear.

So, I decided to break out the magnums and pack along my 4" Colt Python (.357 Mag, obviously) and my Ruger Deerstalker Carbine, in .44 Mag.. Now, I could put on my big boy pants and make it a .44 Mag. only party by bringing my 7.5" Ruger Redhawk, but I am admittedly a better shot with the Carbine, especially with full house loads.

So, should the Python and Carbine FO? Or will it be my funeral?

Lol. I like the ol' "gun up the ass" joke as much as the next guy but we"re talking black bears here. 357 mag will be quite sufficient.

I just take a .357 unless it will also be a shooting outing.
