I usually smoke a cigar but have always wanted to try a pipe. Got this by chance, made from wood and "imported" from Peru. What would be a good mild tobacco to try? Local shop has several blends available, but I am at a loss as what to try first.....

Uhh, that isn't made for tobacco.

Is there a screen in the bowl, by any chance?

If you do insist on smoking tobaccco out of it... which you probably shouldn't,  you should stick to English tobacco.  I'd suggest tins of Dunhill Early Morning Mixture.  Mild.

Don't buy the drug store bagged crap.  It is nasty.

ive never really smoked pipe tobacco, but i have a friend who does, and damn does that stuff smell good.  secondhand pipe smoke is something that i wouldn't mind being around.

Go to Desert Sky Mall, next to JC Penney is a pipe shop called the Knights Corner or some such.  Talk to them, sniff the stock. Ask them what blend is mildest.

Pesonally, I order a blend called Chateau from The Briar & Bean in Clarksville TN. It is the mildest and best I have ever smoked. At about $24/ lb it isn't cheap but it really IS the best I have ever had in 28 years of pipe smoking.

That looks just like the pipe that grandpa would smoke while sittin' in his rockin' chair, sippin' on his mint julep.

Or maybe it was grandma?  My memory ain't so good anymore.

Since the pipe was "imported" from Peru, maybe you should use Peruvian tobacco.  Just ask some of your clients if they have any Peruvian product for sale.

That is NOT a tobacco pipe.
Like others said, try some dunhill.
Also check out cavendish.

Nice chunk of hash would fit in it too. Save yourself some misery and get a real tobacco pipe.
