Quality entertainment. I'd like to buy the guy who does that a beer sometime.

They booted the Boondocks out of our local paper and put C & H back in. Long live spaceman spiff!

Boondocks is probably the most worthless comic ever, devoid of any humor and full of blatant racism. I particularly hated the one where the little boy wouldn't take a free sample at the store, because he wanted to steal one. Whoever rights that crap needs and asskicking.

It's always bugged me that the BEST comics of the modern age were all done by people who eventually turned out to be short timers who couldn't keep it up for the long term.

Calvin & Hobbes...Bill Watterson
The Far Side...Gary Larson
Bloom County...Berkeley Breathed

Great strips....and the authors turned out to have no staying power and just gave up.

Sorry, but I dont think that is fair to the authors.

The creative process is an elusive muse at the best of times, and the genius displayed in these cartoons was of the highest order IMHO. That genius was not apparently sustainable, and in order to avoid becoming a caricature of itself: flat, stale, and unfunny ie Peanuts/Schultz, they chose to bow out before they lost out. I have read how Breathed would struggle to the last minute to come up with his strips, and you can see this frantic energy in quite a few of his cartoons.

Cartoonists are humans too.

Its called burnout.

And also, respect for the art they created by deciding not to dilute their magnum opus with strips that are of an inferior quality. Leave while the leaving is good, and maintain a brilliant legacy.

I know you are just as disappointed as I was at their decisions, but I still respect their dedication to the art they created to not let it fall below the standards they themselves set.

But I still miss them.... nothing is even worth reading the comics for lately.

Sigh...

Man I miss those comics. I didn't get 75% of them when I was a kid, but I still loved 'em anyways.
