Well , I'm calling it quits after working for my family after 32 years. Started when I was 16 years old at $4.00 an hour. Now I'm 49 years old, part owner for almost 10 years my wife of 30 years was the girl Friday for the office/barn. Our home is paid for no credit card debt , no debt at all to speak of. Not rich by no means but according to our workers and friends you would think we where millionaires. Sick and tired of paying to much taxs, sick of the winning at work, sick of my parents , sick of the rules and regulations, shutting down jobs for dirt in the road no silt fence, inspector falling things for the stupidest things. Heck I'm sick of my self for what I've tuned into.
I can head over to the barn and go through the gated and my morning just goes to heck. I still love my tractors and machines working till dark when it's cold or hot durning the summer. I thank God for what he has done for my wife and I in our life (we are both born again Christians) and look forward to what may come in the new year. It's really sad but life's goes on...............

Better to move on with your best interest in mind. You are young enough to start over if you wanted to.

When my parents passed on my blood pressure meds went dony by over 80 percent. Now I am taking 10 mg of lisinerpril and it I miss it no big deal.

Not having to deal with their old views of our business and the stress of doing the wrong things is gone

ive always said, the general public has no idea what small business ownership is like.

i dont have people, i have myself and a few other guys. i write the checks, i do the banking, i do the sales, i do the estimating, etc. the public just cant grasp that concept and thats why people who bust their ass's are successful.

Congratulations and don't forget to give yourself plenty of credit for achieving what you have in life.

Sorry for the bad English...... never a strong spot. Ford Tractors is what we used 3930s and 2910s. Matter of fact I'm already bored have not said 20 words to my parents since I gave my notice October the 1st to be honest there's nothing to say. I did thank them for the opportunity they gave me. They don't owe me anything
I gave them my shares back at no expense I was the one who agreed to work in the beginning at my wages and at the end I was just fed up. Every day is a battle and by the Grace of God it will get better. (It could alway be worse) my wife hates that saying to. Tks guys...

Do what do you do, or did, as the case may be?

Congrats OP.

Are you:

1. Retiring for good?
2. Going out on your own ( starting your own business)?
3. Going to work for someone else?
