Even doing the news naked, Couric will not cure what ails CBS news (and most other media for that matter). They've lost whatever moral compass they had. They're the worst sort of universalists, demagoguing us and playing to the lowest common denominator of intelligence and common sense. They need to lose the "attitude" and the purple prose they've become addicted to. GW and conservatives are not the enemy, it's just the proliferation of ignorance and the lack of community in the world. Blind squirrels like Shrillary are even occasionally right when the talk of a village but of course they're willing and ready to make it a law that you must become a village, rather than finding a rational way to demonstrate that it will work, or should work. They'd just rather preach and then pass the plate (taxes).
It may do us good to ignore the news and just assume a more positive outlook about the world and our ability to get along. Better to spend an hour volunteering than listening to the "nattering nabobs of negativity"© ©Vice President Spiro T. Agnew |

Network news is such a joke. Half of it is always really insipid consumer news or irrelevant health/medicine news about how things we thought we good for us are actually bad. The the bias is always so over-the-top and obvious.

I will never watch her news show. She is no journalist, she is a political hack. She got her start in the DC TV market, and I remember one time she showed up with Whoopie Goldberg at a pro-abortion rally on the DC Mall as a participant.

 Ya know, when what JOURNALISTS are doing becomes the lead story in the news - the media's 'abomination of desolation' becomes complete. Jounalists covering other journalists is the most abhorrent concept to anyone who believes in the integrity and objectivism of the press - which pretty much excludes everyone in the mainstream media nowadays. Who the fuck cares what Katie Couric is doing? Who the fuck cares what Matt, Dan, Brian, Bob, Wolf, Tim, Chris, Cokie or Katie think about anything? Who the fuck cares WHO reads the teleprompter? When "journalists" become the story - objective news is dead.  |
