The last few weeks I haven't been sleeping very well. Hit the sack about 2230 and then wake up about 0230 or so. I then surf the tv and switch and watch Combat, I'm on the third season. I've forgotten how fun it was to watch as a kid. Plus a lot of gun porn goodness!!!

He doesn't get enough credit for the ones he directed. Watch those episodes and see how much more modern they are compared to most shows and indeed movies of the period.
And in before somebody says they suck because Saving Private Ryan came out 30 years later.

Great memories. I never missed an episode and a couple of years ago I rented the DVDs from Netflix to watch with my son.

That opening theme!

ETA: Thanks, XD_Fan.

Great show.

Whenever I visit home my dad always has some on DVR that we watch together. He was a kid when they originally aired.

Watched in back in the day, will check it out with fond memories.

ETA most here do not know that Jennifer Jason Leigh (Fastimes girl) is his daughter (useless fact of the day).

Did you find the H&I network?  I had forgotten how hot Sgt McCall was on Hunter.  And I'm hooked on Hill Street Blues.  The writing in that show is every bit as good as M.A.S.H. was in its first seasons before Alda's ego, and dark social commentary through his directing, made it not so great.

Great show I have them on dvd, there were alot of big name guest stars on the show.

This lists all the shows with the people in them

http://www.jodavidsmeyer.com/combat/episodes/episode_guide_text.html
Also Claudine Longet was it two of them I think, she is the one that killed "Spyder Sabich" the olympic

skier. And did virtually no time in jail. There was cocaine and alcohol involved. She was also married

to Andy Williams

That H&I network is pretty badass.

I love Combat, but I hate Kirby.  Does that fucker ever aim that BAR.  He's shooting it gangsta before there was a gangsta.

Loved that show as a kid.  When I rewatched it as an adult I really appreciated the see-saw battles Vic Morrow and his men fought against the Germans.  They were always capturing the same village/town.  Those lovely eucalyptus trees are just like the ones we have in Calffornia too.

But Jim Nabors was gay, so it would be ok.

Combat! had some stinkers, for sure, but also some surprisingly great episodes that still hold up.

Rat Patrol was just stupid, stupid, stupid.  I watched it, but even then I wondered why the Germans always stood up on roofs. Didn't they know the gun jeeps would shoot them and make them do a Hollywood fall to the ground?

This thread brings back great memories.

I remember watching Rat Partol and Black Sheep when I was a kid but had never heard of Combat until now. Boy do they want a lot for the DVD sets of these war classics.

I remember watching Combat with my uncle a couple of times. His commentary on the show was interesting since he had a piece of German shrapnel in his hip.
