Damnit, it won't play on my browser. Can someone post a synopsis?

Pre-ban weapons are illegal to ownm because they can fire ful-auto.
AKs with 30 round magazines penetrate cinderblocks and bullet-proof vests, but the same AK with a 10 round magazine is nice to kittens and children. |
|
That CNN story wasn't media bias, it was DOWNRIGHT F'ING LYING.
For those who can't see the story: Sheriff shoots a pre-ban AK-47 at cinder blocks. It goes through them leaving puffs of dust in the air. He then shoots at a "bullet-proof" vest. Bullets penetrate the vest. Now shoots with a post-ban, 10 round magazine at cinder blocks. The camera shows the cinder block. No holes, no puffs of dust, nothing. Obviously a 10-round magazine and no pre-ban features makes the FIREARM SAFER. Sheriff says, "What makes the difference is the amount of fire power." Now to show the destructive force of the pre-ban he SWITCHES IT TO FULL AUTO! CNN reporter then talks about keeping the AWB in force. WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP! |

Shithead Sherrif needs his ass beat down really bad.
That little bitch, i wonder how much money he got for doing that skit? |
|
So far:
CNN Reporter Geewhiz interviews Sheriff Asshat who says Broward County Sheriffs support a renewal of AWB because of the destructive power of assault weapons. Asshat then directs Deputy Flunky to shoot cinderblocks and an old bulletproof vest with a Norinco AK47 with 30rd mag. Flunky shoots the cinderblocks, which break apart as expected. Flunky shoots vest which presumably is penetrated, but the video isn't clear enough to see this. Geewhiz is in awe of the destructive force he has witnessed. Flunky then takes a Vepr with a 10rd mag and proceeds to shoot at the cinderblocks and miss them entirely. Asshat points out what a difference the 10rd magazine made in the destructive ability of the gun and Geewhiz is again impressed. Flunky then takes a full auto AK and unloads a 20rd burst into the vest. So now we can all see why semi-automatic assault weapons are bad and should continue to be banned. |

Isn't there some way to sue these clowns (both CNN & the Broward Co. Sherriff's Dept) for conspiracy to violate our Second Amendment Rights? I mean, geez, after the Tobacco suits, surely there is a vicious enough attorney out there to do something like that.

Shot a PC AK with 10rd mag and missed the cinderblocks, whereas; the 30rd mag hit the cinderblock.
Total BS, and most democRats believe this. |

Ok, guys, this is the message that I have started emailing out to the news media:
I thought that you (and perhaps your readers) might be interested in an NRA video clip that shows a fraud that CNN perpetrated on its viewers with respect to the Assault Weapons ban, with the active participation of the sheriff of Broward County, Florida. The clip is here: www.nralive.com/index-a.cfm?id=2714 (If you have high-speed Internet access, click on the Options tab on the web page to change your bandwidth option, which is set to dialup by default). On May 15, 2003, CNN & the Broward County sheriff: 1) Showed a "pre-ban" AK-47 shooting holes in cinder blocks and a bullet proof vest. Then, they changed to a "post-ban" legal AK-47 type rifle. As the camera focused on the cinder blocks only, the viewers heard several shots in the background. Yet nothing happened to the cinder blocks - no holes, no puffs of dirt, nothing - obviously the shooter was not shooting at them! This was misrepresented to the viewers as how safe the post-ban rifle was. 2) Showed a fully automatic AK-47 (which is classified as a machine gun and is very difficult for civilians to own) and misrepresented it as an assault weapon, even though the 1994 assault weapons ban applies to only semi-automatic rifles. For good effect, the sheriff fired a burst from the fully automatic rifle into the cinder blocks, obliterating them. This was then represented to the viewers as how unreasonably dangerous these assault weapons were to the public. 3) Although not addressed in the NRA video clip, the Broward County sheriff showed the rifle shooting holes in a bullet proof vest - without mentioning to viewers that bullet proof vests protect against only low-powered handgun ammunition, and any rifle, even a hunting rifle from the early 1900s, has the power and velocity to shoot through a bullet proof vest. It is in the interest of the news media to insist on accurate and truthful reporting. In fact, there is simply no substitute for it, in the gun control debate or anywhere else. This kind of false reporting is reminiscent of NBC's exploding gas tank scam, and shoots large holes into the credibility of the media as a whole, not just CNN. I hope that you will call CNN to account. CNN's transcript of the segment is here: http://www.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0305/15/se.13.html CNN's host was Anderson Cooper and the on-scene reporter was John Zarella, the CNN Miami bureau chief. The Broward County sheriff is Ken Jenne, and he was accompanied by Deputy Chris Worth. Best regards, ... |
|
Ok, so far, I have emailed this to the Washington Post, the Chicago Tribune, the LA Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Denver Post, and several weblogs.
C'mon guys, we can get something going here! |
|
This needs to be tacked and a full force attack on CNN and sheriff dumbell.
I will be doing my part. |
|
I wouldn't be too quick to condemn Sheriff Jenne for his role in this. From his perspective he may have just been demonstrating the selective-fire AK to show how cool it was. He may not have known that the context would be twisted around to make it appear that the expiration of the AWB would allow machine guns to be sold without restrictions.
CNN has to take the blame for how the piece was edited and the context in which it was broadcast. |

CNN has to take the blame for how the piece was edited and the context in which it was broadcast. View Quote All the evidence to date shows that the sheriff actively participated in the fraud. For instance, from my post: 1) Showed a "pre-ban" AK-47 shooting holes in cinder blocks and a bullet proof vest. Then, they changed to a "post-ban" legal AK-47 type rifle. Yet nothing happened to the cinder blocks - no holes, no puffs of dirt, nothing - obviously the shooter was not shooting at them! This was misrepresented to the viewers as how safe the post-ban rifle was. View Quote There was plenty of other stuff that the NRA clip did not address: The misleading about the bulletproof vest. Bulletproof vests protect against only handgun ammo. Neglecting to mention that his "sporting shotgun" would demolish the cinder block if loaded with a slug or 00 Buck. Talking about how these weapons are used in drive by shootings. The Broward County sheriff was actively involved in this, and fully deserves to get part of the rap. However, if we can demolish CNN's credibility, that is more important in the big scheme of things. |

Yeah, I guess you are right. I'm too eager to cut cops slack. He's an asshole.

The second shooting demo where they said the magazine held 10 rds. still looked like a 30 rd. magazine to me. Am I correct? Anyway the gun seemed to develop a defect the sheriff alluded to that they were not especially accurate.

Yes, the post ban AK they showed was what looked to me like a Hesse converted Saiga, which they had a 30 rnd mag stuck in. Why the idiot then went on about 10 rnd mags I have no idea, perhaps he was trying to simplify the over-10 rnd mag ban stuff.
The only reason why the damage from the full auto looked greater on the cinder blocks was because they fired around twice as many shots with it at it's half of the wall. They fired 3-4 shots on semi auto, then at least 10 more on full auto. The fired the Saiga into it's half 7 times at a slow semiautomatic rate. Two of which seemed to do virtually no damage as they hit the top block at a high angle as it was shifted by the bottom block breaking nearly dropping the top one. In no way was that any kind of fair comparison, obviously we all know they fire the exact same round, but these morons sure tried to portray it differently. The entire idea of showing a full auto and implying it was what was banned, and if the ban sunsetted it was what would be "on the streets" was completely misleading. Either that Sheriff is a lying asshole who misrepresented that or purpose for he's an idiot that doesn't even know the law he is supporting (not uncommon with this monster the AWB...) |

We know this stuff already. Every person on this board could spot the lies as soon as the CNN segment was originally broadcast. The value of the NRA clip is that it takes the weapon of CNN - the video - and turns it around so that it is pointed at CNN. I predict that it will be quite effective when aimed at the fence sitters and those who do not know a lot about firearms, semi-automatics, and fully automatic machine guns. It will be an eye opener for those people. |

Dear sheriff Jenne, I have recently viewed an interview of you done by CNN concerning the expiration of the unconstitutional 1994 assault weapons ban. I am deeply concerned by the amount of falsehoods and fallacies coming from a man in such an esteemed position. You sir should be ashamed of yourself. You bring dishonor to an honorable profession such as law enforcement. I have always thought that law enforcement officers have the trait of honesty, but you have prooved me wrong. I implore you in the future to thoroughly research a subject and be as honest as possible before making a fool of yourself on national TV. (your opinions please.) |

Hmmm, During the second airing of that they changed it, or redid the test or something, because they did show the Saiga hitting the cinder blocks this time, they just didn't fire as many shots at it's half doing less damage obviously. That first report was just plain screwy, the deputy must have been shooting at the vest during those shots or something, surely he couldn't miss the whole wall???
