Carried the same Flash II for years, and I've done fucked up shit with this knife, cut wire, branches, used it to pry shit, used it as a screwdriver. I sharpened it today and besides the scratches it's as good as new. Very slight blade play but, it had that play since NIB.

So, I was looking for ammo today and ended up buying a CRKT M16-13SFG. Impulse buy.

It's a really good knife, it locks up super tight and is basically a fixed blade once it's open but, it's not as good, not nearly as good as the SOG for a EDC knife.

1. It opens way too slow and under stress, I could see it being an issue

2. It's way too difficult to close with the auto-lock, this isn't a huge issue but, still, I could open and close the SOG 20 times before I could get 10 out of the CRKT

3. Adjustable pocket clip but, the SOG just sits deep in the pocket, it's not noticeable, it could be a pen or anything else. CRKT is way too obvious.

Now, I think the CRKT is an awesome knife, and totally dominates the SOG as far as penetration, I haven't tried it but I'm sure I could punch holes in a 55 gallon drum with the CRKT but, that's not very helpful in an EDC when it opens slow.

I'll continue to carry the Flash II and the CRKT will go in my drawer with all my other lesser knives

True story. This happened earlier tonight.

My inlaws came by unannounced, they had been on vacation. My FIL, my woman and myself (and my dogs) were in the backyard drinking beers talking about the mulch I just layed down. My older dog goes at the downspout, I figured it was a chipmunk. Wrong. It was a good sized garter snake. Anyway, my woman is like OMG OMG and I kick the downspout and the snake makes a run for it. For whatever reason I pull my Flash II at lightning speed and throw it, I stuck the knife in the ground cutting the snake in two, I then quickly got my knife and cut the head off the snake. My FIL (business man type) was like WTF you're pretty good with that knife.

Total luck but it was hilarious. I couldn't do it again if a million bucks was on the line.

Sounds like a poor impulse buy. CRKT makes good knives, but the auto-lawks system they use will be a hindrance sometimes. Buy another SOG if you need a new knife (or a kershaw, benchmade or spyderco), or keep carrying your Flash II and give it more character.

I have a couple knives, I almost bought another SOG today but, figured I'd branch out.

I think it's a good knife in general but, it's not something I'd want to try and use under stress.

Also, the SOG belt clip is a much better bottle opener.

I've seen a lot of old CRKT M16s around.
They seem to last.

I had a CRKT M16 for a while and it sucked. Replaced it with a Spyderco Delica which does not suck.

Because nobody carries them for more that a week or two after buying one before replacing it with something else.

I have carried a crkt m16-04z for several years now.  Also bought a M21 last year and carry that off and on as well.  Both flip quick when adjusted.
