I was watching Modern Marvels last night and they were talking about bars. They were talking to the CEO of Billy Bob's and he stated that they only get 35% of their income from alcohol sales. So, that means that as long as it is not posted with the 30.06 sign that a CHL holder could carry in there.

Regardless of what he says, I don't think I'd care to be the test case.  I'll leave that to one of you younger, braver guys. [;)]

I think if it's not 30.06 or 51 posted you should be ok. If nothing else you can plead ignorance in court.

I could be wrong!

They have to derive 51% or their profit from alcohol sales and post the sign per code 30.06 in its exact verbage. Otherwise you can carry in there. For example, Fridays. They have a sign that says you can not carry a firearm in there "unlawfully" It is not in compliance with code 30.06 therefore, it does not apply to CHL holders. However, a prudent person should not carry if he/she have been drinking.

At lease in Texas, ignorance of the law is not a legal defense.  You'll usually get fried if you claim ignorance.

Why doesn't Hank Hill ever go to Billy Bob's?

I go to restaurants carrying, but not bars.
It's just the old "discretion" thing. I think if it's a bar, you KNOW as well as the LEO knows that they make their $ from Alcohol.
the question is restaurants..some of them DO make their jack from booze, but you can usually get away with it because they DO server food, UNLESS they have the 51% sign or the 30.06 regs posted.

My biggest problem is I  keep walking into a nursing home to vist my mother in law and forgetting to unholster.....that is illegal I believe.

I think they've changed the hospital law, now hospitals have to post it.

Cheers

(edited because I'm typing like I'm braindead)

I understand that in restaurants that serve alcohol and have the 51% sign that unless properly 30.06 posted you can carry in the restaurant area but not in the bar area.

Clarify if this is incorrect.

(In Texas)They clarified the law a year or so ago.  Even if you are a 51% you have to post a 30.06 sign for it to prohibit CHL carry.

It used to be that hospitals, churches and 51% buildings were a prohibited place for CHL carry.  They still are only if they post the 30.06 sign.
