I know Luxottica has the market cornered but where can I get a good pair of glasses online? I am not afraid to spend money to get a good pair that will not break but I don't care about name brands either. I would like a pair of ansi z87.1 prescription glasses to go shooting/fishing too.

Zenni Optical. I have three pairs for less than half the price of a single pair from the Monopoly.

Yep, I have 7-8 pairs from them.
I got extras to throw in my car and BOB.

this. I use Zenni for spares. This way I get all the pupil measurements, etc. correct for a proper fitment.

Another vote for Zenni. I've got several of their RayBan knockoffs and you really can't tell the difference from the real thing. You'll need to know your PD. (how far apart your eyes are)

If you don't mind convicts making them. One of the prisons I worked in had a optical lab where convicts filled on-line prescriptions under contract.

So instead you go to an eye doctor who orders them from the prison shop.

I don't know any that grind their own lenses.

I haven't done it in a while but Hidalgood Supply http://pilotseyewear.com/On_Line_Catalog.html use to have real good prices on Ray Bans and other glasses.

I bought my last pair from these guys. Great customer service and very easy to deal with.

Zenni.

I wear RGP contracts 99% of the time, but love Zenni for keeping a pair or two of glasses around.

The first time I ordered from them, years ago, my glasses got held up in customs, and I emailed them about it, so they sent another pair. Both pairs showed up, and they were super nice about the entire thing.

I have moved up to the point that I did spend $45 on my last pair, but the cheap ones are fine too.

I've bought at least 10-12 pair online. Don't expect to get "high quality" glasses online, even if you pay $50+.
Instead of buying a $100 pair locally, just buy four pair online for $25.

Zenni is good, but Eyebuydirect seems to have the lowest prices. $10 up for prescription glasses.

Don't expect any customer service. Just throw them away if they break.
I had a $25 pair that broke after a week. Returned them (my mailing expense) and received a $25 credit on my next order. Wasn't worth my time.
