I'm looking to buy a Bushmaster XM-15 M4 type 16 in. carbine. A local dealer has told me that he can acquire the gun for $725 plus tax. The thing that concerns me though is that this price is (I believe) below wholesale. Does anyone know what retail and wholesale is on this rifle? And do you think he's legit? He wants a $315 cash/check deposit before he orders the rifle...

I'd appreciate any help...

$725 sounds about right to me.

A dealer in Richmond VA was selling the 16" bushmaster a couple of weeks ago at a gun show for $680 (A2 upper, shorty handguards, full stock) or $740 (A3 flat top WITH carry handle, shorty handguards, full stock, front site), they also came with the hardcase... This guy normally has great prices on stuff, I think he goes for low markup and high volume...
