I remember reading somewhere that bushie had some sort of military contract; something with the barrels?

Someone else here posted that Bushmaster got the first M4 Carbine contract for 10,000 during the Gulf War.

Colt subsequently sued because the barrel contained "proprietary" technology, and Colt won.

All M4s for US use will probably be Colt for the immediate future.
