I almost bought one of those a number of years ago. Now I almost wish I had - it's a funny firearm.

Buhmaster made them for tank crews but the army didnt like them.
Its priced alittle high I saw one at the last gun show for $500 and no one would touch it. |

Much more effective than a handgun, but not as large as a rifle or even SMG. |

I would think this would have some collector value , since Bushmaster name is attached to it . It looks very proto type ish ,I am sure they didnt make to many of these and since then Bushmaster has gone on to be a very succesfull name in the ar Community.

It's an interesting gun. It takes slightly modified versions of the M-16 bolt and carrier.
The biggest problem with them is that the bolt carrier system rides on two rails that are welded into the receiver, and sometimes one of those welds breaks, allowing the rail to move and ring like a tuning fork when you shoot it. Keep shooting it and the other weld will eventually break. If the gun makes a ringing noise when fired, the rail needs to be welded back down. What you might not get about this design from the picture is that the pistol grip assembly swivels from side to side. Interesting. CJ |

But the military never went with it, Far as I know the Bushmaster version was never in the running for US adoption. |

Last one I held belonged to a friend who traded it for a $1200 or so UZI recently. It is a collector's gun. I would have been really tempted at 5 bills. |

The orinal concept was way ahead of its time, a true PDW, as it was chambered for a true PDW cartridge, not 5.56 X 45.

top eject? Yes...but the whole reciever rotates, so it actually ejects to the left or right depending on which way it's swiveled. |

They made some full auto ones as well. I know I've seen it forsale around.

i handled one a while back you can move the stock from side to side

Bushmaster is the actual name of the gun itself.
The company that originally made them isn't connected to Bushmaster firearms at all. |
|
the one I had was an excellent little weapon,,
great in any vehicle, ran like a rapped ape with any round you put in it (in the correct caliber of course) did not Aim fire Great, lousy groups but, it did keep the rounds center of mass predominatly. IF I was spending days in the bush in a tank, HumVee or Helo, I would not feel ungunned in a fire fight. |

I've fired a select fire "armpistol", but it really was a piece of crap. It only liked to run with the steel SA-80 mags and was stone cold jammo-matic with everything else.

I believe those where "movie props"....I have seen "ganger banger" shows on 60 min and they all have the same SKS,M10 and AKs. And I wasn't aware that bangers had a stardard issue program. |

Shot one back in the early 80's, ran good with USGI mags, could have bought it for $250.00, money was tight back then.

The Colt SCAMP......Yep me too |

I saw one in a pawn shop once a few years ago. I had no idea what the hell it was and passed right by it for $300 or IIRC.
Sure looks like a SBR to me too. I bet if they had become popular the ATF would have ruled them a SBR. |

The Colt IMP/Davis arm gun was to have a brace that would help stabulise it. But the Bushmaster didn't have one. I don't know if that would have been ruled as a stock by the ATF or Mr Gwinn just didn't want to use it. |

reminds me of the AK that somebody had set up like a bullpup.

reminds me of the AK that somebody had set up like a bullpup. Top half is very much AK piston, and the bottom is AR15 and its very easy to take a part. The one in the OPs pics is a older model with a top mounted charging knob. The newer guns had a side mount. |

A bullpup AR? Not like this though: http://www.riflesnguns.com/files/images/Bushmaster.jpg IMO, they're both ugly A friend had one of those. Felt like I was shooting a piece of aluminum gutter and it had a staple gun like trigger. After two or three mags it gets too hot to shoot. |
