This is from the same group that thought "boxers or briefs?" was a campaign question?

Bush would look like a boob if he did that...

He'd be getting all sorts of 'youth oriented' questions framed in such a way as to make him look like a old fuddy-duddy.

-Gay marriage
-drug legalization
-1st ammendment stuff including funding for music education
-Free College
-Free health care
-draft fears

It would end up being a hit piece.

Pft. There's not such thing as the youth vote. Bush is better off spending his time talking to people who DO vote in close races.

BTW, this is coming from a 25 y/o who's been voting in all but one election (unimportant local special election I didn't pay attention to) since I was 18. The nice old ladies at the polling place are always suprised and glad to see me.

That's the truth!! MTV is nothing but liberal Asshats pushing their agenda on the youth of today. I'm 16 and all I ever see on that GD tv show is "Gay Dating blah blah blah", "Vote or Die" bullshit from a rich motherfucker that doesn't even understand that slaves were initially brought to America via black Muslim slave traders, et cetera. I hate the channel just like I hate VH1... and now even CMT is catching the wave of bullshit.

I tend to agree with those saying it would be suicide.

People said the same thing about Bush not attending the NAACP confrences (or whatever the hell they were called). It would have been incredibly stupid for him to go to those, and the same goes for this case. There is NO WAY in hell MTV would structure the thing in such a way as to make it neutral to Bush or the commie. It would be set up specifically to nail Bush.

Even so, it looks WORSE for him not going on.

To those that think so, it doesn't matter what he does...he still looks bad. The shekina glory of God could manifest around Bush and they'd still think we was evil.

So what if he got asked that?

Sounds like to me many of you guys don't have any trust in your Prez. and you rather have a gag order than let him be asked some questions.

With a verified media for Kerry, you bet'cha... If it were simply a group of young voters, I'd have a problem with him not speaking, but it's MTV and thus is a partisan venue disguised as an open forum. I can see a question now: "Mr. President, how can you throw the book at drug offenders, when you yourself were a cokehead."

No advantage to Bush courting the "brain dead / I want my MTV" non-voters.

Link Posted: 10/28/2004 10:36:24 AM EST
MTV is a waste of time.

But what he SHOULD do is hold a real "Fireside Chat"- spend a hour or so in a CHAT ROOM on AOL or MSN or both. Then he could reach the only young people who will actually be voting.

It's the same reasoning as to why there are no MAJOR active campaign offices in LIBERAL states.

Why not direct the resources you have to the places where it will do the most good?

I wish I had my camera for this picture.

I'm standing in front of Republican HQ waiting for some Bush signs to come in by truck. The Democratic HQ is right next door to us. We've had this store front for six years. The D's three months. I see this POS car coming down the steet with a few 4x8 Kerry/Edwards sign strapped to the roof. The signs were trying to go airborne from the air when this knothead discovers he has no place to park and will have to go around the block.

So he turns down a one way street the wrong way with a ton of traffic coming at his 12. All he does is force eveyone to the curb, beeps his horn and shakes his fist at everyone shouting "get the **** out of my way" when he rolls buy. It was the one of the most idiotic things I've seen this election. But, in retrospect, I think we made a few new Republicans that day.

I managed to raise 4 children that did not buy into the "MTV Mindset"
and so did many other parents. They only represent a % of the youth.

Why bother with the ones that are inclined to vote their music preferences
rather than knowing the issues.

I have faith in the many other parents who raised their kids to pay attention

LoL. Oh man, you had me up until "O'Reilly is a legitimate powerhouse of political discussions." O'Reilly is a jackass, though I will say that I'd rather watch him than MTV. He reminds me of a republican version of Larry King...but a more of a dick.

"Welcome to the O'Reilly Factor. Have you heard? I wrote a book!"

You are one person. His ratings, book sales, guest list and CURRENT standing in the journalistic community are not measured by one person of even a group of 100 of we "one persons".

Whether you, or I, like him or not he is a powerhouse in that circle. Period. End of factual statement.

Gee, MTV... ya THINK the PRESIDENT might be a little busy... well... BEING THE PRESIDENT??

That's a little of a disadvantage for Bush. Not only is he campaigning, he has to carry his Presidential duties, too. All the while, Kerry has been ducking out of his duties....

+1 He's wise to avoid it. MTV's "Choose or Lose" commercials are as subtly anti-Bush as they can make them. Just check one out sometime...you'll see what I'm talking about.

I agree. Next up would be Al-Jazeera, then a Q&A with Hollywood liberals. Let's see a little good will first. You're enemies want you dead first, if that's not possible they'd like to light you on fire on natinal TV or maybe a pie in the face.

MTV is owned by Viacom, the same parent company who owns-

CBS and all their "60 Minutes"/Dan Rather bullshit.
Howard Stern and his daily 'Hate Bush' diatribes
Showtime and their Striesand produced character-assasination of Ronald Reagan.

Why would GWB want to give them the opportunity to put the knife to him?

Fuck Viacom. Even the GE-owned NBC properties are better.

Why Hasn't MTV Interviewed President Bush?
09.03.2004 5:10 PM EDT

Throughout MTV's coverage of the 2004 presidential election, many of you have been contacting us about providing equal coverage to both major presidential candidates — Senator John Kerry and President George W. Bush. Some of you write that you've enjoyed our programs with Senator Kerry, but you ask why MTV hasn't interviewed President Bush.

We agree with you that we can best serve our audience by presenting both candidates and campaigns in equal measure. But while Senator Kerry has now sat for two interviews with MTV, President Bush has yet to agree to a single appearance. MTV has been pursuing an interview with the president all year and would welcome him on our network at any time. To date, the Bush campaign has told us that it hasn't been able to schedule an MTV appearance.

We believe it's critical for young people to hear from both leading candidates. Major issues — like fighting the war in Iraq, getting a job or paying for college — disproportionately affect young people and are at stake in this election. We think you have a right to hear directly from both candidates about how their presidencies would affect your lives.

M4 I know you are not but according to a bunch of assholes on this site you having douted Bush makes you a

Love how you < 100 post people THINK you know a long timer like M4, and are incapable of communicating a cogent thought without an expletive.

Do you think we don't know who you are, where you come from, smell your stench, see thru your BS???

GWB should not bother with MTV, just as he shouldn't bother being interviewed by The Nation.

It is tactically foolish to legitimize any hard-left media organization by having the President submitting to their stupidity. MTV must be deemphasized, not elevated.

You sir, are just the example of the "assholes" I was speaking of. I know M4 isn't a troll because I have read his post before but because he douts Bush he is at risk of being called a troll. Oh yeah, that stench your smelling must be a load of shit in your Depends diaper old man.

If the youth want to hear the president and his policies, then change the fucking channel to something News worthy and watch it for a few hours. I'm sure you'll understand then.

I take every chance I get to fuck with MTV and I am glad to see BC'04 doing the same. I'd like to think they are using the same strategy with North Korea: giving the pipsqueak petulant little cockroach the silent treatment instead of pretending to take him seriously.

Viacom and MTV can go suck a dead man's dick as far as I'm concerned.

Young people can get equal coverage of the president by watching the debates, speeches at rallys, news coverage etc. instead of watching MTV.

Im 26 and watching more than a minute of MTV makes me want to break stuff. Its always a group of kids on the verge of tears talking about their problems with being accepted or finding out who they are or trying to "make the team". Im left wondering what the future holds for us

No, its more like Kerry being interviewed by Larry Pratt, of the Gun Owners of America, and by Angel Shayama(sp?) of Keepandbeararms.com on national television in prime time, with all 80million gun owners in the US in arenas accross the country watching it.

That is a much closer analogy to Bush going on MTV, only in the former case, there would still be people voting for Kerry.

Where did M4 doubt Bush? M4 was giving bad campaign advance, but I don't see that he in any way doubted Bush.

And, MTV sucks. No reason to add to their credability.

I was like that in high school. By which I mean I wanted to throw stuff every time I heard some whiney fucktard with an MTV attitude, wether it was on MTV or in real life. At the age of 15, I feared for the US and the human race as we know it. I still do, but I have come to accept just how doomed we are.

It is sick how much the media and hellywood control these people's lives.
They have no sense of what is real.
