Taxpayers are going to have to pay for them and they won't help anybody.

http://www.hardwirellc.com/solutions/whiteboards.html

Well, for one thing, they cost between one and three hundred dollars apiece, while a typical whiteboard of that size costs considerably less than twenty, and probably cost less than ten if you buy them in bulk, like a school district would.

Furthermore, their absurd cost is going to be used to protect (ineffectually) against something vanishingly uncommon. It's like installing V-shaped hulls on school buses in case one of them hits a land mine.

They're 18" x 20". Wtf is that going to stop. Just shoot the person in any sport not covered by that measly piece of shit. It'll only partially protect the teacher. Forget about protecting any students.

Last time I checked, the average student was bigger than 18" x 20".
I really dont see this being practical at all.

The "inventor" of this should be ashamed. It is as useful as the bomb detection device they were selling Afghan and Iraqi police.

Great product.  This way the teacher can buy time with which to beg for her life because she's not allowed to harm the shooter.

So you want me to take this thingy, and run towards spraying bullets from banana clips that have shoulder thingys, and I will be ok?

At least give the damn teachers spray or a taser

The State hinders our safety and then insults our intelligence with this piece of crap?

We should use these boards to beat the fuck out of dumbass politicians.

What's next?  James Bond ejector seats?  They might as well keep a bucket full of dildos handy for students to throw at shooters.

Wouldn't a reinforced door with a secure lock be cheaper and more practical?

Did you guys know that a backpack with 2-3 average textbooks will stop a .45 round?   It will, but people are still buying These for their kids.  Never mind the fact that the backpack will spend most of the day in the locker where it has 0% chance of helping.

Oh my god. I just noticed two things at that link:

1. In the picture in the header, they have a 3-view of the lady holding it up to protect her face and torso... making it patently obvious that her legs (and hips and lower abdomen) are completely unprotected.

2. On the $109 clipboard model... someone has written "WHITEBOA" on the whiteboard. You know, in case you forget that your whiteboard's a fucking whiteboard.

"HURRY CHILDREN"

I got a shiny Sacajawea dollar that says 3/4 of these get stolen the first week and end up as front and back plates under Davarius' and G-Dog's T-shirts during their next "withdrawal" at the local 7-11.

Hmmm.  Wonder if they use Dyneema HB26 for the ballistics?

He wasn't joking about the governor, watch any press conference of his. There isn't much going on upstairs.
While he hasn't claimed Guam could tip over, I'm not sure he knows what Guam is. He might think it's a type of jelly.

Makes sense. Although most trauma plates aren't that big either and they are for adults.

This is perfectly in line with the thinking that brought us Franken and Klobuchar.
