So long story short, my buddy got jumped by some pussy with brass knuckles and now has his jaw wired shut. He has one of those small ninja blenders but it doesn't do very well making solid foods drinkable. I see tons of recipes online but can't seem to find any recommendations for a good blender.
Anyone have any experience with this that could recommend a good blender without breaking the bank? Also FHRC Trump 2016 |

I broke mine.
I tried the whole blending Whole Foods thing. The only problem is, you have to add so much liquid that makes it gross. I would recommend just drinking a ton of Ensure everyday. That's the route I went. |
|
Been there, tried that. Food is nasty when blended. I ate shit tons of soups for 3 months. And ensure to supplement.
|
|
when I had me teeth pulled I used a smoothie maker with dispencer.
A can of chicken garlic cambells, handfull of brocolli, garlic and a can of corn. a blend to pureee. |

Meatloaf
Mashed Potatoes & gravy OVERCOOKED pasta Soup - Lots of broths, Beef/Chicken/Veg LOTS of Ensure (as mentioned) |

Nothing to add except you haven't lived until you've drunk a filet-o-fish sandwich.

Ninja. They are fucking awesome. You're welcome. Psst, There's more than one sentence in the OP. Big bad ninja. Not the pussy midget ninja. Off to Google!! (Then my bunk...) |

My wife's Vitamix has roughly the same HP as my Stihl chainsaw. It'll blend foodstuffs with authority.

What is he trying to liquefy in the ninja? A ribeye, baked potato and carrots might not work out so great.
My wife uses hers everyday with greens, fruit, peanut butter, yogurt and stuff |

The old-school Osters work fine. Make sure the jar (or whatever the hell you call it) tappers toward the bottom and it has the little glass baffles in it. If you check those boxes off, you'll have a darn good blender for about $25. Wear ear-pro for the Oster.

Vitamix....there are no other blenders.
Scour the web for refurb models. They carry the same warranty as new models and are about half as much coming in around $250. Groupon had some a few weeks back. Check Vitamix's website as well. They sell the refurb models on there as well Quoted:

My dad had his mouth wired shut for 6 weeks following oral surgery when he was about 35 (30 years ago). As far as I remember, we just had a normal blender. Once, we had Kentucky Fried Chicken and blended up chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, and biscuits. He loved it. No doubt - it tastes pretty good mixed up on the plate, no reason it shouldn't when they're thoroughly mixed. OP, sorry to hear you can't masticate for a while - just think of how great it will be when you can start again! |

Let me guess your friend wants a cheesburger or pizza in the worst way right? I had mine wired for 2-3 weeks, tell him to stick it out and drink the milkshake proteiin bullshit, anything you blend up is gonna taste like complete shit, ask me how I know. he's gonna drop 10-15lbs a week so eat up on that ice cream while you can.

In all honesty the Vita-mix is the only one rated for blending liquid diets. It's expensive but it will last forever and it's a bad ass kitchen tool that you will not regret owning in the long term. Commercial grade heavy duty and it will make juice out of a steak or anything else you put in it.
I know because I have a son who's 5 years old, and he's tube fed from the day he was born. The Vita-mix gets used hard every day. Those Ninja blenders and other bullshit are not even close. |

At the end of the day Ensure and potato soup helped me keep my weight up while it was wired shut. |

Get an oster
Next start looking for good protein shake mixes. I recommend dymatize blueberry muffin, and cookies and cream, as well as bio test metabolic drive based solely on taste. Also get lots of fresh fruit to blend in as well as PB2 peanut butter powder. Frozen berries are better than ice cubes cause they don't water down the taste. Whatever you do, don't buy banana flavor powder. I had 6 lbs of that once. Could have killed the guy that told me how good it was |

I ate(drank) so much cookies and cream with ensure and candy bars when my mouth was wired shut I never wanted a milkshake again.
Still lost about 10 pounds a week |

You guys are a little slow today so I'll say it...
whiskey and your mixer of choice |

After having 2 premloars surgically removed for implants, I dug out my old school Oster blender with the glass jar. I told my wife that if it died, I'd probably replace it with a Vitamix.
I had more protein shakes and smoothies than I've ever had in my life. |

Had mine wired shut for 6 weeks. Random thoughts:
- Protein shakes will be his new best friend for a while. - Ravioli is really good liquified. - Zip n Squeeze bags help a lot: Link |

Vomiting will occur, so mom had to find something. Sam's club saved me... I ate more liquefied pasta in those couple of weeks than anything else. Liquid and solid jello is good too, also stop by the store and get him a gallon can of his favorite pudding, that helps a lot too. |

FYI -
Your basic Oster blender is cheap. Extra blades and such are cheap, in my area Ace Hardware carries them. The Oster screw thread is the same as a narrow mouth Mason jar. This is a valuable piece of information right there. No, I've never tried a liquid diet on one. |

Thanks for all the advice everyone! I knew I could count on all you deplorables
|
|
Ensure (which sucked btw), try blending down soups (homemade preferably) not as gross; chocolate peanut butter milkshakes for the win!
Rematch and payback in spades. No help on the blender. |

The full size ninja works better than any other blender I've had. That fucking blender has like 2 horsepower, in a blender!

Robot coupe. Last blender you will ever need. After all others break down, the robot will still be going.
