Twice? Say what? We won the American Revolution (with a lot of help from the French, Spanish and Dutch), but NOBODY won the inconclusive War of 1812. It was a draw for both sides. The US bungled most of the war quite badly, esp. in Maryland and Ontario. The Battle of New Orleans, while making a hero of Andy Jackson, and giving American morale a shot in the arm, was fought and won after the Peace Treaty had been signed. Game over, didn't count. Indeed, if anybody lost the War of 1812, it was, as always, the Indians....
England, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand have always been there for us. Obviously we have been there for them as well. Blair has to say what the liberal brits want to hear. Until it happens it means nothing. There were commonwealth units in Korea, Vietnam, and Desert Storm.

True, but as 19th cent. British PM Benjamin Disraeli said, "Britain has no permanent friends, but it does have permanent interests." We just happen to be one of them.
One thing is certain: ANYTHING could happen in this crazy war. Osama Bin-laden could give himself up to a country that won't turn him over to us. It's certainly possible, although far-fetched. Speaking of far-fetched: American Talibans, anybody? Nobody had thought of that one before all this. What's next?
