I'd just like to note for the record that the 'cartwheel' launch was a US Navy one…

Like there is any difference.

Oh well as soon as your blokes get the data forwarded we can tell them how well the launch went...

Gee we loan nukes to the UK, you wonder why they are our closest and most dependable ally.

The US dosen't loan them the nukes - the UK provide the physics packages for the D5s the Royal Navy purchase from the US.  However the lab I work at does all the flight data analysis for both the US and UK.

Oh hell yes!  The UK with a sneaky big stick!  I can't think of a better country to have them.  Thanks for the pics and the story.

From the looks of this pic, you guys have to lower your sail before you fire your missile. We use nuclear power for all our subs..

Tell me how the rocket engines (which ignite when the Missle is OUT of the water) are going to effect a submerged submarine?

That's the TI (Test Instrumentation) Mast. Pretty much bolted on before they leave port for the launch, then removed after.
I got to go on the Vengence when it was in Kings Bay, GA. I was in the on the pier when that sailor fell into the tube.
