Shit, was this just reported somewhere? I hadn't heard it. He's gone through a lot more than any one person deserves emotionally.

Damn. I don't pay a whole lot of attention to professional athletes, but he seems like one of the nicest ever.

First, cancer sucks.

Second, here's my thing about Favre. I've seen this guy get his dick knocked in the dirt so many times in games, but he always gets up smiling, and will seemingly always try to make a point of saying something to the giant DT that just planted his ass too. You know, kind of like, "Good hit, man." I think that really says a lot about his spirit as a competitor and as a man.

I gained a lot of respect for him when his father died, and he went out and played one of his best games ever in honor of his dad.
A class act.

+1

Whether you follow sports or not,
The Performance He gave last year on Monday Night just
Days after he lost his father was aw inspiring.
People like Favre don’t grow on trees.

Yes, Favre is a rarity in the sports world...doesn't bad mouth his team mates when they lose, doesn't take all the credit when they win, and he will give you everything he's got, even after getting the shit knocked out of him time after time. It's sad that he is the exception to the rule nowadays.

Brett is truely a good ole Mississippi boy.

Brett Favre is the man. It has truly been an honor to have him play for the Packers and to be able to root for him.

His first documented adversity was a car accident in high school that resulted in 20 ft. of intestine being removed. He was on the field playing again in a month.

As he led the Packers to success in the NFL, he got involved in the NFL party lifestyle and it almost ruined his marriage. He was in trouble with booze and addicted to Vicodin as well. I remember a game back in about 93-94 at Green Bay, he got hit after throwing a pass and got up puking. The official line was "stomach flu". Yeah right. Through it all, the guy played like a house on fire and was doing all those things that only Brett Favre could do on the field. The year the Pack won the Superbowl, he conquered the booze and pills, got his life straight, and fixed his marriage.

There is a lot to like and respect about Brett Favre. Enjoy his play while you can.
