Posted this in the American Sniper thread, but, I thought it deserved it's own.

http://www.breitbart.com/big-hollywood/2013/02/08/cooper-sniper-movie-gun-control/

If true, I don't think I'll be going to see it.

Do they actually have a quote from him? The article is a little vague.

You think that makes a difference? That movie has made a shit ton of money already.

“His story first of all really needs to be told, and it’s also relevant on two fronts: gun control and the need to address the many soldiers who are coming back with PTSD.

That was written back in 2013 shortly after Kyles death. Do you think he might have learned anything by playing Chris and working with Eastwood ?

Yeah I didn't know if they were attributing this quote to him or not, it was unclear in the short article.

He campaigned for Obama, take a guess.
Link Posted: 1/18/2015 9:51:25 AM EST
Clint Eastwood would beat the man back into cooper ! If it where true!

I heard him on Howard Stern saying that he campaigned for Obama.

Even if he does feel that way he hasn't been out pushing it with this movie. The interviews I've seen him do he talks about his respect for Kyle and the SEALs. I saw one where a journo asked him about shooting and he started rattling off his groupings and different calibers.
Link Posted: 1/18/2015 9:52:08 AM EST
Let the backlash commence!

I was ahead of the curve on this one, I wasn't planning on seeing the movie anyways!

I saw him in an interview after he did the A-Team and he was going on and on about how much he had fell in love with guns.

He said he had become infatuated with them and learning about them.

I'm going to try to find the interview.

ETA: found it.

Cooper or Neeson, etc. They are actors, not some intellectual giants. I don't watch movies that they are in to hear their opinions. I watch the movies to see the movie. If these guys were intellectual giants, they would be in another field.

Interview was in 2009. Article I quoted was in 2013. Newtown is mentioned so maybe he changed his mind since then.

I'm not 100% sure how it works but, he's also the producer. Doesn't he get a cut of the profits?

So, does this mean it's ok for me to go see the movie now? Because I was going to, than I saw this thread and wasn't, and now Im not sure.

I'm going to see it and buy it on disc to support the Kyle family.

A liberal, anti gun hypocrite in Hollywood? Unpossible!
Link Posted: 1/18/2015 10:37:54 AM EST
Seems kinda generic.

But as always I see Hollywood as a bunch of clapping monkeys who dance for my amusement. Their opinions are not only of no interest to me, their personal lives and their culture is irrelevant to the majority of America.

There are pro gun celebs, and anti gun celebs.

Link Posted: 1/18/2015 10:43:28 AM EST
If you stop watching movies because one liberal FBHO lover is making money off it, you will never see another movie again. Unfortunately that's the way it is now.

And FBHO if I forgot to mention that.

Bingo and the sooner the firearms community takes this mindset. The better off we will all be.

When it comes to entertainers, I tend to let it go as long as they can keep their work and their personal opinions separate. If he puts his anti-gun BS into a character he plays or a movie he produces, then I'm not going to spend money on that. But I didn't see any anti-gun message in this movie. If he was hard-core anti-gun, traveling the country with the Brady bunch or something, I might think differently.

In the other thread, you mentioned Lon Horiuchi and Troy. I think it's completely different inside this community. There's just no room for people like that.

Link Posted: 1/18/2015 11:55:54 AM EST
He's an actor.

In the past they were only held in about as high of regard as prostitutes.

What's important is the message of the FILM, which will resonate far more with people than some quote from the actor in some obscure interview.
Link Posted: 1/18/2015 11:59:10 AM EST
Dude, just assume anyone you watch on tv is not your ideological buddy. It's just the culture of that place, and most of them have to tow the line to get ahead. Just relax and enjoy the story.

The part where it was noted, correctly, that you dont pay for a membership?

That's called statement of fact, not attack.

Guys, just stop watching all TV and shows because someone on that show is anti-gun.

Don't let them control you.

Unless it's some hypocrite like Neeson.

Entertain me Fool!

I look at entertainers as vapid empty vessels who's skill is assuming the identity and modeling others.

Fully formed personalities have difficulty modeling others in my view.

Occasionally I am pleasantly proven wrong.

But I don't put much stock in their opinions or political leanings.
