It's good to know where you're top of the food chain and where you're not.

If you go swimming where alligators live they will try to eat you?  Texans can't figure that out?  Hmmmph!

That's why I don't swim in lakes or canals in Florida. Sharks don't scare me, but Gators sure as fuck do.

They will generally leave you alone unless you get too close to the nest but it's always a good idea to be aware. It could be that some dipstick has been feeding it, that makes for a dangerous gator......

I grew up on North Lake Livingston, and the alligators were always all over the place. In White Rock Creek, and around Whispering Pines Golf Club especially.

We NEVER gave it a thought though, and spent a ton of time swimming and just hanging out in the water drinking.

Snakes were always the concern being around the shoreline.

This is as rare as a shark bite I would figure.

It's nesting season down here.  Also, we've had a lot of rain and flooding, so the gators are displaced.  This is probably the cause of it.

BTW:  I play with bees too.  I caught a swarm off a street sign on the way home from the dump Saturday.

They may want to put a gator warning on that sign.
Great job, Dad!
