Just picked up a 100rnd bulk pk of Federal 230gr FMJ .45 ACP.

On the back cover it says "Not For Law Enforcement Use"!

Why is that warning there? Is Federal basically saying "Don't trust Your Life On This Ammo"?

Just think it is a wierd statement , and question why a company would acknowledge any difference!

It's Federal. Therefore the lethality or reliability could sway from one day to the next.

Eta: my post is a joke.  They make good ammo.

Because it is FMJ.  They are assuming LEOs can read

LEO's don't carry FMJ and its probably not up to the reliability standards needed

It's too bad you can't have 19 rounds of .45 in a reasonably sized handgun.

Funny how folks got by for a long time with 6 rounds of .45 and shot alot of folks with em.   Then the hi cap 7 rounders came out....

I'm happy enough with 8 rounds in my 3" micro 9 in my govt models and 11-15 in my M&P.

This is American Eagle, not Champion, correct?

It probably failed to meet certain reliability criteria.

Does the standard 50 round box have the same warning?

I love my Para SF45 with two spare mags!!!!

As for the OP, it could be that the ammo might not meet reliability standards, or consistent velocity standards, or just because it's a FMJ round.

American Poodle ammo is good to go.

Double stacks work pretty well or 12 rounders in HK's or the FN FNP with 15.  I love the .45 round.  I like the 9, but .45 rules.

You do know they make 8 round P220 mags.  When I carry my P220 it's got an 8 round mag and 1 up the pipe.   Hit what you shoot at.

I just checked a box I have, and it does say that.  (Don't have a OPSEC capable camera handy.)

It also states "DO NOT USE IN FIREARMS WITH PORTED BARRELS OR PORTED RECOIL COMPENSATORS."

They are using small pistol primers in the Federal 45acp 230 gr FMJ.

Saw it today in Walmart.

Yeah, anyone who reloads needs to sort those into a separate pile.

I've shot around 700 rounds of the Federal small primer 45ACP 230gn FMJ, and it's always functioned.    But I consider it a target round.

I haven't reloaded any of it yet, but everything I've heard is that it will function fine with standard small pistol primers.

Plated bullets can get ripped on compensator cuts.  The copper jacket is very thin and dead soft.

If you're worried about your smartphone camera tagging your pics, just convert the JPEG file to a .BMP file in MS Paint, save it, then convert the bitmap back to a .JPG.  Bitmap files aren't set up to store EXIF data, so saving it as one dumps it.

It's because they have been tested and perform poorly against fur covered targets.
