Jason Bourne clearly has heightened abilities, but how did he get them?
Did the goverment speed up his reflexes? Is he a cyborg? Very good training only? Or did the Feds only take the very best, and then train them.

I haven't read the books but I believe he was simply one of the best of soldiers in the military. Probably already had a high IQ, a good memory, and was very observant.

I'm guessing he spent several years in training.

He doesn't seem stronger or faster then any other person. He's well trained and works out every day. (Has weight bench in his house in the first movie and in the second movie it shows him running for exercise). His dominance in fighting no doubt comes from good training and the confidence of someone who's fought and killed many times.

I can't wait for the third movie. Hope it takes place in the USA.

They state that the Treadstone assassins were extremely capable operatives with millions of dollars of training and obviously a very stringent selection process.  Like Delta operators and then some.

The Bourne Ultimatum

I really liked the first two movies. I have not read the books. Are they a good read?

Posters show Bourne in the foreground with the NYC skyline in the background.

The books are pretty good, but the storylines are nothing alike. Is Jason Bourne our James Bond? Or would it be Matt Helm?

With the other guys complaining about headaches, and Bournes's amnesia, I think their internal nerves were "improved" by the Feds.

I'd say those were all PTSD symptoms.  These guys were very busy (look at the dosier of activities Bourne has pieced together at the start of Supremacy) in a very risky profession.  Bourne's an awesome combatant but it's his ability to get inside his opponent's decision loop that makes him so dangerous.

Yes, there will be a third Bourne movie.

Bourne Identity
Bourne Supremacy
Bourne Ultimatum

I've read 2 1/2 of the books, just couldn't plod my way through the 3rd for some reason.

The movies are definately better than the books.  The books go into WAY too much detail and stuff that the movie does away with for the sake of a quick storyline.

And the movie and book are different enough that it gets irritating when they aren't syncing.

But Ludlum does write a good book.

If the movies were by any other name than Bourne, they would be great. But since they threw the plot in the toilet, they can only be good.
