My wife goes to UTEP and you can see Mexico about 500 meters from the school. She had class in the building that was shot but she was sick that day. When I drive down I-10 to pick her up I always feel like I'm looking at some shitty Iraqi village on the other side of the fence. Across from UTEP is the colonias (sp?) which is the poor area. I just make sure I have my CHL everywhere with me and just stay alert.

I work dispatch for an oilfield rental company. We work in some places where you can literally throw a stone and hit Mexico. Most oil companies "used" to ban weapons on their locations. And officially, they still do. Unofficially, they recommend you carry as much ammo as you can, with whatever weapon you can.

She's not trying to sway the opinion of border residents. She has already written them off.
It's everyone else in the country statements like that are directed to.
Contrary to what some believe, she is not stupid.
