Border Patrol vehicle hits 2 illegals, killing 1

DATELAND, Ariz. Authorities are investigating the death of an illegal immigrant who the Border Patrol says was accidentally run over by one of its vehicles in a desert area in Yuma County.
Another illegal immigrant was injured.

The Border Patrol says the incident occurred Sunday night about ten miles southeast of Dateline, where agents had responded to apprehend a group of illegal immigrants.

The agency says the two victims apparently were hiding behind low-lying brush and the driver of the Border Patrol vehicle didn't see them.

The Border Patrol is conducting an internal investigation. The F-B-I and Yuma County Sheriff's Department also are investigating.

A buddy of my was mowing a field with big tractor with a 12' mowing deck. He hit a fawn crouched hiding in the brush that he did not see.

He said he just hear CLUNK, then blood and a leg came flying out of the shoot.

This story just reminded me of that for some reason. Accedents happen.

In 1990 at Camp Pendleton, a new for the range 'but very old' amtrack from the 60-70's was hauled out to a range for heavy machine guns....We had an early morning shoot. A few day's later they found 6 dead bodies in the track....seems as if the illegals found a nice warm amtrack to sleep in on their voyage.

A while back near Yuma on the military reservation there some Naval Special Warfare types accidentally lit up an illegal while practicing the Aussie Peel. They evactuated him to a hospital, where he received both inpatient and outpatient treatment at the governments expense. Navy investigators tried to track him down, but he disapeared.

Its a damn shame to see things like this happen man... I can hope one thing and one thing only....
That the truck had a big 'ole brush guard on it!!!Seriously though, I think there is an important lesson to be learned here; you better get 'em all and there'll be no troubles at all.
