and boy, did it go out with a whimper.

I didn't detect a meaningful attempt at closure in the last episode. I was hoping that they'd take a swing at the Zimmerman case, but no. At least they went completely "un-PC" with the last episode (The New Black;) they're probably the only show on basic cable that could get away with taking shots at both gays and the developmentally disabled. The last ep wasn't that bad, but I thought it was a weird way to end a show that had been on the air for almost 10 years now (albeit intermittently). I'll remember it fondly; the Obama episode (with the dick riding Obama song) took some real courage. I suspect that McGruder is a crypto-conservative (notwithstanding his little "Ronald Reagan is the devil" speech in the first episode;) he had Huey acting like a prepper in "Fried Chicken Flu"--sans guns, and the show has never really been afraid of discussing problems in the Black community. I tip my fedora to the series--It owes me nothing--and many of the episodes were painfully entertaining. RIP Freeman family.

I'll leave those of you unfamiliar with the series with the imitation Will I Am song Dick Riding Obama from an episode meant to be a "meta-commentary" documentary about the rise of Barak Obama during the runup to the 2008 election (the episode, however, was released in 2010) . The episode features the voice of Werner Herzog as the documentarian, which should give you some idea about the sophistication and thoughfulness of the series. It's rare that you see Black "creative types" be as critical of Black culture as McGruder was:

A six minute overview of the Obama election episode featuring the parts with thugnificent. The ignorant dialogue by thugnificent is an almost word for word quote from rapper dmx when an interviewer told him that a "black guy named Obama" was running for president.

Seasons 1-3 are absolute comedy gold.

Season 4 turned into preachy racial horseshit. Not funny at all. Total disappointment after such a wait and high hopes

The show's creator--Aaron Mcgruder-- was not involved with the 4th season, though I disagree with you in some aspects.

Last episode of Season 4 was great, everything else, meh.

Which is a real letdown, I loved seasons 1-3.

It was a good show. Touched on things that most shows wouldn't dare, and couldn't get away with. Don't think I've seen any of the last season. The MLK episode was good.
