Not a problem.  S.O.G. is a great book as well.

Brennan's War is another great book.  My old history teacher got to meet him at a seminar he did one time.  Said it was awesome meeting him.  He tried to get him to come talk to our class but wasnt able to get him.

In order of their worth....

Adrift: the autobiograpy of the man who survived at sea for the longest period ever.

Deep Survival: how your body reacts to panic and why.  Great read for any outdoorsman

Imperial Hubris: why we will have to fight Afghanistan again, this is not an "anti" book, but tells why we CANT kick the ass we need to.

The interegators: a reservist who serves as an interegator in Afghanistan and his experience and perspective.  Good read.

This Mans Army: also a good read

Through our enemies eyes: provides understanding about why/where/whoIQ/Bin Laden are and what they truly believe.  Know your enemies and their history.

Tactics of the cresent moon (or anything by poole):  Great introduction to the basic tactics and strat. changes that are comming with 4th generational warfare.

Afghan guerrilla warfare : in the words of the Mujahideen Fighters: what the soviets did wrong and how the Afghans fight a war.  Step by step tells you their tactics and strat.  Redundant, but VERY in formative with terrain maps and such.

Generation Kill: the kids love it.  Everyone knows a "Captain America."  Fucking Danger Close...

Zombie Survival guide: a must if you own an ar15

The Old Regiment: think jar head set in the bloody islands of WWII.  This is what it meant to be a Marine 50 years ago.  Makes me feel charmin soft.

China Marine:  The acclimation back to civilian life after the old regiment, gives you the "rest of the story" and provides a good look at what it takes to come back to normal after combat.

Thanks for starting a worth while thread.

Anabasis by Xenophon.  Read about 10,000 Greek "contractors" whose leadership was killed off by the deceiving Persian King who reasoned that once deprived of their leaders, they would humbly submit.  Wrong.  The 10,000 elected new leaders and marched through the Persian Empire until they reached the sea and home.  It takes place after the Peloponnesian War and before Alexander the Great.
