without Union Rep, those workers are going to be taken advantage by Boeing.

Isn't this like the fourth time they've rejected the union? View Quote I was thinking the same thing when I read this earlier today. I guess "no means no" doesn't sit well with union bosses. IIRC the whole reason Boeing built the plant in SC instead of WA or wherever was because of the no union factor. |

"Boeing said 74 percent of the more than 2,800 workers voting rejected the union."

Thats why all these companies are pulling out and going south. Unions have killed them for years. Good for them.

Did they secede from the union, or did they reject joining it?

My friend works there and called me last night all excited about the results. He also said Trump is visiting on Friday.

Felt good casting my vote. The comments from Washington IAM folks on FB last night reminded me of election night liberal tears.
Also, I'm gonna have great seats to listen to Trump while he makes Boeing great again tomorrow! |

But, but but unions are all great or something. Good for them.

At my former employer they ran elections to unionize the drivers until the Union won and then stopped . Why not keep holding them ? The Union won by I think 4 votes and fucked the employees promptly . The first thing they got was a wage cap were previously there was none . Long term guys were $7-8 an hour over the cap . They were given a meeting place as next to the dumpster for the monthly meetings . The only reason they even had the fight was because a union loving California employee transferred in .

Isn't this like the fourth time they've rejected the union? View Quote Technically the last time they didn't go to a vote. There was something about the process that if the union pulls the vote, they only have to wait a year to try again but if they lose an actual vote they have to wait longer than a year to try again. I'm not sure the specifics, it's what I heard on the radio and the union knew they didn't have a snowball's chance in hell a year ago. I'm just glad it's over, I'm tired of all the frigging radio ads. Also, fuck 98 Rock, everything they did the last year was sponsored by the machinists union. Couldn't find any other sponsors, huh assholes? |

Sure across the board many union employees will make more than their non union counterpart. However, the top employees would make much more outside of a union. I know, I'm in a skilled labor union. I deal with absolute garbage employees on a daily basis who only make what they do because a bunch of fantastic employees built up a reputation of good work. I'm planning my exit and have a job lined up making more money, with a shorter commute, a much greater potential for advancement and a better work environment. |

Friend of mine down there said Boeing was threatening pro-union employees over the union vote. He's put in an app with BMW and will be getting away in the next few weeks. Typical corporate behaviour. |

Isn't this like the fourth time they've rejected the union? VW rejected the UAW a few times as well..wasn't there a law suit or something? Yes, the union sued to being able to have a vote w/o the usual process of VW workers signing cards & getting enough to allow a vote. Can't recall exactly, but I believe the union won that lawsuit. What is even more mind boggling, VW suits endorsed having the union in their own GD plant........... |

If 25% of the 2800 employees were getting threatened...the unionistas would have made massive political hay over it. Personally, I would rather fly on non Union built aircraft. I want people building planes that know if they fuck up they can't hide behind a union. |
