Very effective marketing. So much hype but honestly it's nothing special. Since moving to an area with a Publix I've sampled most of the Boar's Head meats and Publix Brand meats. Plus meats at the neighborhood market. People really buy into marketing. That is all.
Link Posted: 2/24/2016 10:46:59 PM EST
Get both.

Publix is good.

Boar's Head is good.

Publix doesn't have as much variety.
Link Posted: 2/24/2016 10:47:43 PM EST
Marketing worked well enough to get you to buy it.

That's all they ask.
Link Posted: 2/24/2016 10:47:52 PM EST
Fucking a!
Link Posted: 2/24/2016 10:48:16 PM EST
Ain't no Publix in Oklahoma.
Link Posted: 2/24/2016 10:49:39 PM EST
You slander the great name of Publix, and you dislike Boar's Head Meat. Heretics get one way flights over the ocean on a helicopter. All aboard!
Link Posted: 2/24/2016 10:50:18 PM EST
Lol.

Start with Dietz & Watson and work from there.
Link Posted: 2/24/2016 10:51:04 PM EST
They make a pretty good variety, and I've never had a less than decent experience with any of their products. Piggly Wiggly sells it here.

I'm in Alabama now. I'm not brave enough to try the head cheese. Nasty looking chunks in some clearish gelatin.
Link Posted: 2/24/2016 10:52:47 PM EST
never even heard of publix
Link Posted: 2/24/2016 10:52:57 PM EST
You're crazy, OP. Boars Head London Broil is as good as the roast beef I used to get in Chicago at the Deli. The Swiss Cheese and Horseradish sauce is fantastic also. I even tried Boars Head pickles the other day. Awesome.

I have Dietz and Watson Roast Beef in my fridge right now. Disgusting. The texture is the worst part.
Link Posted: 2/24/2016 10:54:22 PM EST
You'll get cancer from all those deli meats
Link Posted: 2/24/2016 10:54:49 PM EST
Boars Head is better than anything local here.
Link Posted: 2/24/2016 10:54:51 PM EST
OP is wrong. Boars Head all beef hotdogs and sauerkraut are awesomly tasty.

I used to eat Boars Head meats on sandwiches for lunch when I worked at a family grocery store here in Chicago, when I started college. It all tasted good. We have some good deli's here.
Link Posted: 2/24/2016 10:59:29 PM EST
Boar's Head deli meats are demonstrably better than the other brands available at our local grocery store. We've tried to get used to the house deli meats at Ralph's, but they just don't compare to Boar's Head. More expensive, but worth it.

Best grocery store around. It's one of maybe 3 things I miss about living in the south east.

Boar's Head Low Sodium Roast Beef - never have I seen its equal at a deli counter. Every other brand has all kinds of sugar, flavoring, and crap that makes it taste like crap in comparison. To be fair, BH's other Roast Beef has the same crap and also tastes terrible.
Link Posted: 2/24/2016 11:00:27 PM EST
Boars Head deli meat doesn't impress you. And...

BH Blazing Buffalo Chicken Breast FTMFW!

Ovengold turkey breast.

It's probably the only deli meat I could eat on its own and by the pound.

Boars Head Tavern Ham for me. Pricey but tasty.

It's only like a $1 or $1.50 more per pound than generic types. Well worth it.
Link Posted: 2/24/2016 11:03:41 PM EST
I can't say Ive ever seen an advertisement for it.
Link Posted: 2/24/2016 11:04:10 PM EST
Boar's Head has been the only brand I've found with a meaningful reduced sodium product. When buying foods for my dad when he was on dialysis we would travel agood distance to get their specific low-sodium meats.

It's a small niche, but valuable to those who need it.
Link Posted: 2/24/2016 11:04:48 PM EST
I agree.

Boar's Head makes decent products but there are much better meats and cheeses out there.

Boars head is better than Publix deli brand. Publix is fine, but BH is better.

Agreed. Dietz and Watson is the worst deli meat I've ever tried.

I'm going to go eat a piece of boar's head black forest ham.

Boar's head cracked peppercorn turkey, shaved (they hate doing this, but it's important), is probably some of the best processed turkey sandwich meat you can buy.

Wife and I love the London Broil. The Horseradish cheese & Cajun Roast Beef are the only two BH products that I do not like. I find the "horseradish" and "cajun" flavoring to be overpowering and somewhat fake tasting.

Disagree, much prefer Boar's Head to the deli meat at Harris-Teeter.

Florida, where Bar S and Gwaltney's meats reign supreme.

They are the same price here.
Worst tasting "meat" products out there.
