Blue Angels Sneak Pass Reaction Chicago 2017 (Sunday) |
|
They land and depart at the Gary, IN airport during the week leading up to this. Would see them every morning on my way into work in the city from NW Indiana. Love when they practice over my house.

No matter how many times I see the Blues the sneak pass never gets old. Here is another good one that was suggested based on the first video thats a good one.

1973 last year in the USAF. Wife and I and some friends were on top of the supply warehouse at Dyess AFB in Abilene Texas. The Thunderbirds were performing for an airshow and were watching it. They did their famous bomb burst maneuver as we watched three of the four ships the fourth came up from behind us and I swear it could have been no more than 75 feet above us. Anyone who has been around F4's knows how loud they can be. Two of our friends fell out of their chairs they were so shocked.

I went to the Dayton Airshow for years. The Thunderbirds do something similar with 2 F-16's. The group of planes do a slow diamond roll down the runway and as they clear, the 2 other F-16's come from behind the crowd from opposing corners and cross over the runway. The planes in the videos looked lower than I remember, but who knows. At Dayton the Air Force announcer says "Ladies and Gentlemen, you have just experienced the tactical element of surprise!" once the reaction quiets down.

I think her belly wobble registered a 3 or 4 on the Richter scale.

Who in the hell sold that lady spandex?!?!?
Oh yeah, the plane was cool! |

Love that part of the show. Was at Dayton several years ago and experienced that first hand. The old "look over there while I do something over here" trick gets you every time!

Though Army, I spent a year at a Navy school in Pensacola.
They'd randomly do that shit at the beach and it was AWESOME! |
|
Saw them on 2 years ago. Flight box made it pretty meh. Was fairly disappointed. I think they are trying again

Would love to know what his groundspeed is doing that. He's seriously hauling ass.

I'm surprised people weren't pouring water on them to keep them from drying out...

View Quote That was sick! I've watched that video about 30 times now watching a different persons reaction. |

The Blue Angels were at the local airshow here a couple years ago...I kick myself every day for not going
|

I have a picture of me with that plane, taken from the air field last Thursday.
Flew into Gary. My plane (private) landed at the same time as the leader of the blue Angels did. ... Given he got runway right away. |
|
The flyover teams used to do that at the Bristol racetrack. They'd come in an hour or so before the scheduled flyover and put on a mini-airshow for the fans.
That all stopped after 9/11. Now it's just the scheduled flyover. |

I always wanted to fly a jet in the air Force or whatever. Damn I'm just sad of my failed life goal.

I run fishing charters out of Pensacola and see these guys on nearly a weekly basis. Nothing like making a run in, listening to the engines hum and all of a sudden get buzzed by these guys crazy low! I think over the gulf they look down and say, "Hey, let's see if we can make that captain shit his pants on the way in!"
Also, when they come back home, they always do a low, slow pass with smoke over the beach. So awesome to be able to to have the priveledge of calling these guys neighbors! |

I was in one of the high rises next to the Navy Peer a couple of summers ago when they were practicing for the weekend show and those guys were coming at the building and breaking. Kinda hard to pay attention with the F18s buzzing the building that afternoon.
Very cool. |
