Blackberry, a good ol' Canadian company (who actually MAKES AND ASSEMBLES their phones here, not in slave labor camps in China) is in a fucking world of hurt right now.

I blame you fuckers and your stupid iPhone's (and George Bush).

iPhone users: Why do you hate Canada?  We practically invented the fucking smart phone and you turn your backs on us?

Not gonna lie. Been through 5 blackberries in 3 years, Not gonna make that mistake again when I'm able to trade in.

Until they get their hardware issues in line, and start producing operating systems that aren't laggy, and actually work with the phone you have, I'm done with them.

I guess they probably have big corporate contracts?

That's exactly what it is, and my company is one of them. Drives me insane.

I managed to get a Droid, but I'm one of the lucky few.

It'll change for the better eventually, and the big companies will go along with the rest of us, kicking and screaming. But they will.

This.

The RIMjob this company continues to deliver via shiny brochures about their pre-antiquated "new" products just irks me even more.  We've moved nearly everyone off of the BB products now, just a few holdouts left, and they're being slowly and meticulously converted by those around them when they see the other products (android and iPhone) to ask for a new phone.

The only people who still think Blackberry is a viable, relevant "smartphone" system are senior level management people who are too set in their ways to give it up.  And Barry Soetoro Inc.

While the rest of the world figured out that it's seamless integration into the business environment, not hold-out antiquated processes and band-aids, that win the day.

Apple learned this lesson the hard way, and continues to do the same thing, much to their detriment and market share.

Google figured it out from the start, and even though they're doing their own thing, their products for the most part seamlessly integrate into THE dominant business systems in the world today:  Microsoft

The only people to blame for RIM going down the shitter are employed by RIM themselves.

RIM was the original smart phone company, but they rested on their laurels while the rest of the world innovated.

Now they are stuck playing catch up...and I think they realized it too late.

We're dumping Blackberries because they require a Blackberry Enterprise Server to connect to our Exchange server.  All the other smartphones can connect to it without a server.  It wasn't cost effective to run a server and pay a yearly maintenance fee for 75 users.  Since our users can buy any phone they want we can't force them to buy Blackberry.

Not sure.

They still sell lots of them to the general public.  I know that BB's security and encryption is the best (still) and that appeals to government / business, so they must have some contracts there.

FWIW, the people I know who use Blackberries have to constantly replace them because of battery issues. I have had the same Iphone for nearly 3 years.

I never fully understood the what's so great about the Blackberry.

I had a Windows smart phones(circa 2005 - 2007) that were able to sync with Exchange with a few simple tweaks within the Exchange settings.. No need for a separate server or additional licenses or a special data plan with the cell company which cost $$$$.

The longer i have my Blackberry, the more i hate it with a passion.

I have been issued two of the damn things..  A Pearl and a Curve.

Screen smaller than newt nipples,  Web browser better than a TI86 and  buttons that stick like TP to your junk after flogging the bishop.

Its just pure shit compared to modern kit.

F**k blackberry, they were too arrogant to go with the times and change. They thought they cornered the business market and could keep coming out with the exact same product every year. They got exactly what they deserve by ignoring their customers and being lazy with their innovation.

ETA.  Don't mind Canada though other than your classless hockey team

I don't know anyone, other than me, off the top of my head who uses a blackberry other than being supplied one by their employer. Even before droid came out most people I know had switched either to iphones or other types of smartphones I'm not familiar with.

I don't think they are terribly reliable either. I'm already on my second one after the first one croaked on me

I use one; just upgraded to a new one. The environments I work in are not conducive to touch screens (I hate them anyway) and the format works for me.

the reason they are going bankrupt is that they are loosing the business crowd.

All IT departments want to stay the hell away from those wastes of time, and now that other phones are business friendly, they can.

Get rid of archaic BIS/BES, then come back with a valid argument.
