Bitcoin is now only worth what it was 4 days ago.

I panicked and sold everything as I was skeered. Lol
Ok I actually bought more, missed the dip but still bought low.

The whale nonsense is mentioned any time there's a sell off.

Yellen mentioning it is inefficient (our current transactions in fiat appear fast but take days to actually confirm)  and used in illicit transactions (like cash isn't...] Prob moved a few panic sellers when a natural dip in price action occurred.

Yellen sounds warning

Combined with Elon and Twitter comments a day or two back as crypto being overvalued (he said the same about Tesla stock at sub-$1k).

There's your market in a nutshell and likely it is mostly just natural price action with FOMO & FUD mixed in. All you can do is stack Sats if you think this is as evolutionary and disruptive as the printing press.

Stocks are also all over the place today. Clearly, BTC has yet to decouple from other markets.

No she won’t sell. She just asked me and it’s something I’ve never had happen.

Then she has nothing to worry about.  Some shitcoin that could totally tank and everyone abandoning the network could result in losing everything.  I don't think Ethereum is going away, quite the opposite in fact.

Bought some BTC and ETH on Saturday at the top.  HODLed and bought some more on the ride down today.  End result, still making money.  Albeit, it's only enough for a McDs happy meal.

Michael Saylor says it should have two more zeros on the end. I can't say I'm that much of a dreamer, but I could easily see another 5x from here before it gets really stable and just goes up 6%-9% per year.

So last week I forgot I put 15k down on a limit buy of 49 and change...it ended up hitting it and now I have a nice little payday.

On the other hand bitcoin sucks now because 15k down only gets you around 1900 profit if it goes up 5k

The guy hasn't become a billionaire by being wrong too many times.  He 5x'd his companies bottom line in the past year.
I enjoy his interviews as he is a "not fucking around" type of guy.  Whenever CNBC etc. tries to poopoo on BTC he's like this is how it is and this is why you are wrong.

Her ETH is worth whatever the current price is. You mean negative as in less that what she paid?
For it to go negative it would have to be less than zero.

If it goes below what she bought in she just OUT of the money. If it goes above the price she bought in she's IN the money.

Tell her to be patient, it will go back up.

ETH is not going away.

With BTC above 1T$ in market cap the actual price per unit is projected to be above 100K eventually because the USA just keeps printing money and there will only be a limited number of BTH mined.

30% of all US dollars in circulation in the entire history of the United States have been printed in the last 18 months. So BTC and ETH and pretty much all crypto currencies will go up.

I can see the current administration doing something like that. Big corrupt gov wants CENTRALIZED money and finance, to control it.

Then they'll create a black market environment and the dollar will become even more worthless.

When you hear the world leaders talk about digital currency its not crypto currency, its centralized virtual currency.

Cypto currency and Decentralized Finance are here and not leaving.

They can fuck with it (and will) with such proposals, but then the argument only grows stronger as to why bitcoin would be worth holding in the first place.

This statement stood out to me the most:
"Bitcoin as Protection Against the Seizure of Assets: A bitcoin allocation approximating a 5% probability that a corrupt or misguided regime will confiscate assets – whether by fiat money inflation or outright seizure – during an individual’s lifetime would add $2.5 trillion to its network value."

Many in GD might dismiss that or similar statements as too much tinfoil or such, but people really need to think about asset protection in the current political environment, even here in the US. Sounds crazy, but it's not just for Venezuelans.

They can try, and it may do irreparable damage to Bitcoin itself, but that would just prove the point of defi. Something would pop up in its place, this genie isn’t going back in the bottle without worldwide sweeping crackdowns the like we have never seen before.  Any nation where Bitcoin is “banned” people still purchase it only they are doing so at a premium.

You mean like they banned Cocaine, Heroin and other drugs?  How'd that work out for them?  You can't "ban" digital currency.  The whole point of it is that it is decentralized.  It would just go back to peer to peer buying and selling.  I'd love to see how much a pre-ban bitcoin goes for.  A million, 2 million.

The US market for bitcoin is relative small in comparison to China, Japan, Korea and Russia.  It would be merely a blip on the radar.

If they force all ISPs to block the traffic it could put a serious dent in the number of users.  The average FOMO "investor" isn't going to jump through the hoops required to access "illicit" digital currency.

Block traffic to and from what? The exchanges? Good luck stopping me from sending bitcoin held outside an exchange to another wallet elsewhere on the globe.

Along the lines of banning coat hangers and rubber bands.  After all this is a gun forum.  Can't stop the signal, life will find a way, yada yada yada.  The traffic looks the same as any other packets out there.
I even think one of the senators said a year or two ago that it was impossible to ban it.  Then again most of them have the intelligence of the shoulder thing that goes up so.......

It's a hedge if things get so bad that I will still have an option to get the fuck out of here and preserve some wealth in the process. I can't do that if the government confiscates all my other assets and leave me at ZERO or a prisoner on the slave ship Commie States of America. If the U.S. bans it,  I can always up and leave to somewhere that embraces it. Can't really do that with any other asset. But hey, that's why I hold it.
