I bought a "Ferret 50" BMG upper for my AR15, shot it one afternoon and got rid of it.  It knocked the shit out of me and my buddy who turned to me and asked "remind me why we're doing this."  Good question for which I had no good real answer.

If I am called on to shoot anything bigger than that on a hand-held weapon I don't want to hear about it.

How do those shoot?

I bought a five round baggy, shot 4 rounds and kept one as a souvinir.  They kicked quite a bit.  I had one of those paper hostage targets, man with his arm across a woman's throat and a gun pointed at her head.  I aimed for the bad guy's chest, and ended blowing the paper hostage's head off (I would not make a very good police sharpshooter, ha ha).  The remaining shots didn't even hit the man or woman but landed up high in the surrounding paper.  I never rented it again.  At the time, I had been shooting an EAA Witness Carry Comp in .45 ACP pretty regularly, and thought (obviously errorounesly) that since .50AE was only .05 bigger, the recoil wouldn't be that bad. Big mistake!

Caliber wise the biggest  rifle I own is a .45-70. I've fired elephant rounds though .375 H&H, ,458 Win Mag. etc, and put a lot of rounds through the .50 M2HBs at work.
Most powerful pistol round I used though would probably be the .44 mag
