Friends, supporters, musicians, participants, sponsors and crew members,***
We are delighted to announce the North American television acquisition of "In The Shadow of The Blade" by the Discovery Wings channel, which has tentative plans for a world television premiere on Veterans Day, 2004. With a very, very small percentage of independent documentaries acquired for television broadcast, this is a significant accomplishment for all of us who have worked to bring the true stories of people affected by the Vietnam War to a mass audience. Thank you to all of you who have contributed--and congratulations on this collective accomplishment!
In celebration of our collective accomplishment and with appreciation for all you have done, the Board of Directors of ITSOTB Inc., in cooperation with the Women In Military Service For America Memorial, the DUSTOFF Association, the Vietnam Helicopter Crew Members Association, the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association, and the Vietnam Veterans of America, invite you to a special "Tribute to Vietnam Veterans" Washington DC Directors Cut screening of "In The Shadow of The Blade" on November 9, 2004. Events will be held at the Women In Military Service For America Memorial in Arlington, Virginia beginning at 7:00 p.m. Brigadier General Wilma L. Vaught , USAF
(ret) will serve as Mistress of Ceremonies. This is a non-ticketed event, so please let me know if you plan to attend so the committee can have an idea of the numbers expected. Pending sponsorship, a coffee/tee reception will follow the screening.
The Virginian Suites, 1500 Arlington Blvd, has block rates of $99 for studio suites and $109 for one-bedroom suites under the Vietnam Helicopter Crew Members Association during Veterans Day week. Reservations can be made at 1-800-275-2866. (Thank you to Charlie Rains and the VHCMA for welcoming ITSOTBers into their fold!)
We hope to see you in DC; if not, maybe you can catch one of the special upcoming screenings in Harrisburg, PA; Leesville, LA: Augusta, GA; or Aberdeen, MS. Full details at www.intheshadowoftheblade.com/whatsnew.htm.
Again, thank you all for your contributions. We hope you are as proud as we are that together, we've made a documentary that makes a difference.
All the best,
